Last night at work a black temp arrived and she was just the joke on everyones lips all night. She had her hair died blond and had green contacts in her eyes. I'm just curious, why would a black woman attempt to have white cosmetic characteristics. I can understand wanting a change. As women we all want that. But why specifically white cosmetic characteristics.

To aj1908, who said anything about hate. My goodness...chill out.

Let's get this straight. I wasn't laughing at anybody. This has nothing to do with hate. It's a damn shame when we can't question each other to learn about each other without being accused of hatred.

Thank you hopflower, That is exactly it. I was simply curious. And I guess this bothers me because I am a very loving person to everyone. I never expected the general public to be so hateful over a simple question.

I think a lot of you are being a little hard on this lady, here. She asked because it was so apparent that the other lady, the temp; looked out of place. She did not judge her as a person or her race as bad; just her appearance as being odd. Yes, I have seen many white people who dress or make up outrageously too, so it does beg the question doesn't it? On the other hand, if she had been rude enough to laugh at her or insult her, I could see your point. I took it that she kept it to herself and just wondered about it.

I think she had to look appropriate for the temp agency to even send her out to the job site. She is obviously just as qualified to do the job as you and your co workers. And she was the joke on everyone's lips all night huh??? Where do you all work?? Sounds like a bunch of women and definately some major "hating" going on in the work place. Come on ladies, stay professional!!! Let that lady be who she wants to be and just keep your man in check when he's all in her face!! LOL Get some confidence!!!

I'm black and I would never go that far, brown hair and gray contacts maybe but not blond hair and blue eyes. The truth is that some black people want to be accepted by white people so bad that they'll do anything, but we'll always be just a bunch of monkeys to them and that's why I'm pro me and nothing else.

Let's think about this, why is it that now, white women want what black women have - a big butt, full lips - I noticed that it took a Puerto Rican woman (J-Lo) to make big butts popular and a white woman (A. Jolie) to make full lips popular; so don't hate b/c black women want to adopt some attributes that whites have.

In response to the "don't hate" comment from the author: Well dear, that's what it sounds like to me, sounds also like you were offended by a black woman who has her own way of presenting herself to the world. Don't put it out there if you don't want comment and criticism.

well why in the world would white women get corn rows/rolls whatever you want to call them or dread locks in their hari?

did you ever think that she might be biracial/multiracial? and not entirely all black?

not all black people have "black" characteristics for example one of my friends that is black has purple eyes and another has blue eyes. If she chose to dye her hair blond and wear green contacts why would peple talk bad about her?

WAS EVE on everyones lips when she decided to go blonde?

Statically of Black men who marry purely 7% practice miscegenation and purely 5% are with White women. The data are decrease between Black women. So my aspect is that if 93p.c.of Black men are marrying Black women why ought to I be worried with the 7% that do not? And as you also pronounced the data are even decrease between Black women. i'm for the renovation and merchandising of Black love, Black solidarity and the Black family individuals. i do not care why White men are literally not marrying Black women. opposite to the sensationalized media the US Census speaks for itself. also i'll assert in my opinion i don't comprehend any Black/White interracial couples in my opinion and that i comprehend many married couples. in reality basically this year I witness many weddings between my friends and family individuals that were between Black men and Black women. So back why could I be worried with this kind of small team of folk?

I don't think it has anything to do with it being a racial issue. Like you said we all want change and women especially are very chameleon like with their appearance. A womans creativity and their perogative to change is a most appealing aspect that most men do not seem to possess. Those men who do possess that ability are usually labeled questionable about their own sexuality. I am not making this a sexuality issue but am just offering up a contrast in comaprisons.

Its not so wanting to be WHITE as it is different...imagine if all white girls had blonde hair and blue eyes...wouldnt you attempt to do something different? Black women that put in different color contacts draw immediate attention to themselves..ofcourse petty white girls like your self get jealous..but the men LOVE it

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say she just wanted to a different look... DUH!!! Whose to say if she wanted "white cosmetic characteristics"? One of my friend's wear blue contacts, and she is DEFINITELY afrocentric. Sometimes people just want to try different things... doesn't mean that it's bad. We're all entitled to do what makes us feel good even if others accuse us of having racial identity issues.
