The test is not too hard. The math portion is more reading comprehension than ahrd math. For example: If 3 VCRs valued at $150 each, $300 in cash, and 10 DVDs valued at $20 each were stolen, what is the total dollar amount of stolen goods?
See, the math is more reading than math. Spelling isn't too hard either.
Good luck - VA Cop

Your written test will either be a general knowledge teat, in which case just read and bone up on your math. The other option is a video test in which you watch small skits played out and you have to choose the best answer. (ex. You are driving down the road, an emergency is called and you have to respond lights and sirens. The radio channel has been cleared for emergency traffic only. As you drive, you see a car pulled off to the side of the road with a flat tire. You have to choose between a, b, c, or d.)
Hope that helps.

Some agencies have their own study guide or a study guide that they recommend candidates use. Make sure to find out if the agency you will be testing for has or recommends a study guide. If they do, make sure to use it. Most of the study guides or police test preparation books are pretty good. Use as many as you can. Make sure to understand why a correct answer is correct. Also practice your basic reading comprehension skills, your basic grammar skills, spelling skills, and basic math skills. Practice to improve your observation and memory skills. Make sure to get a good night's sleep the night before you take any police tests. Eat a healthy breakfast the morning of the tests. Dress appropriately. Don't be late. Make sure to practice your interview skills before any interviews or oral boards. Getting police officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. Do whatever you can to make yourself the best candidate that you can. Don't do anything illegal, maintain a good reputation, keep a good driving record, don't get bad credit, improve all of your communication skills as much as possible, practice to improve your observation and memory skills, and become as physically fit as you can.

Is anyone else tired of meandb? This kid is asking a serious question. And why in the world would you get into a car with a beer? That's why you are in trouble. You are not a victim. You are an angry little man with an alcohol problem. Play nice would you?
