At least go and hear what they have to say. You can decide for yourself if what you hear sounds right.

That is a question that I have tapped into my head for a long time. But I found out through talking to other christian friends and asked them how they know there church is good for them. Like for me, I like a church where there is more singing than, message. and the message I dont like it when pastors stick to things that only adults can understand. So I needed a pastor that would relate his message to everybody not just adults. My pastor now isnt as good as my pastor before but, I have to be honest I havent been to church in a longtime, because I dont feel like Im learning anything anymore, and its not a sin to not go to church, Its just that God wants you to have fellowship with other christians, and so in short depending on what age you are if you dont want to go to church, find a High School, or College group that you can get into. Take Care, and Pray about it. God will lead you to the right church if you want to go.

Let us start out by getting the name correct, it is God.
Now for me He and His work is everywhere and you can communicate freely with Him from anywhere. If you desire to meet people of similar beliefs, etc. an organized Church is a good place to go. There are a lot of informal gatherings where people can communicate with Him verbally or silently. I always feel at peace when I have the quiet sanctuary of a House of Worship around me. Organized religions, like all things overly organized and filled with a lot of rules and regulations happen to turn me off. My Maternal Grandfather was a Missionary for the Salvation Army and their rules chased me away, however I do consider myself a 'good' Christian who possess a few strengths and many weaknesses. Unlike Janis Joplin in 'Mercedes Benz' never ask the Lord for anything material only spiritual guidance. He will not disappoint you no matter how much you may disappoint Him. Amen

It's really important to be a part of a community of people whom you can encourage and can encourage you.
Pray. Ask God to tell you which church to go to. Then look in the yellow pages or ask around or whatever and pick one. Check out the statement of faith and make sure that it lines up with what the Bible says. Talk with a pastor or elder or deacon at the church about their teachings.
Then get involved. Stir the soup for the homeless dinner or set up chairs or whatever-sign up for something.
Stay close to God and continue reading your Bible and questioning the teaching, you will benefit from the community of believers.

Yes, is the answer to your first question. Look at Acts 2:1 , even Peter and the apostles knew they needed to meet with other believers. To the second part of your question, pray to God and be truthful tell him you want a church family that speaks his word truthfully, with a pastor which does the same. Ask him for a sign. I say this because that is what I did. I am a baptist and I visited a near by church one I could walk to, on the second visit I prayed to God to give me a sign that this is the church I was to attend with my girls. As soon as I finished this prayer with in Jesus name amen. God sent a swarm of butterflies to circle me and my girls for a great deal of time. The next Sunday I walked down and joined. He will tell you what church he needs you in all you have to do is ask. Just as I am typing this to you God gave me this verse to give to you I pray it blesses you just as you have blessed me with your question, 1 Peter 1:24-25 (NLT) 24 As Scriptures say, "People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. 25 But the word of the Lord remains forever." And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.

if you beleive and have faith, the only church you need is god's church, nature. Just find a serene spot outdoors (hiking, camping, etc.) and you can see the real beauty god created. I beleive if god made this beautiful earth, then god would want us to enjoy it, instead of being cooped up in some building listening to old priests/ministers/ reverends/rabbis/etc...ramble on about nothing important. If you really want to be spiritual, go outside and enjoy earth's beauty. The reason why I beleive in god (not jesus) is because i see the beauty of the earth and the beauty of people and animals on earth and i know that it all couldn't have been created by chance or coincidence.

what i think is the cause of your hard time is because the false teachings of God by the church. the trinity concepts and Jesus being 100 % God and 100 % man confuses many people. If you believe in God, then just ask from God , "Oh God, if you are there, guide me".
Thats it and use your head to find him. which God has given us to discover him.
lets use logic today to discover God.

------------------------------------

1.Say, He is God, One and only.

God cannot be more than ONE because if there were many gods besides God, then there would not have been such order in the universe, and each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have lorded it over others. If there would have been many gods then each god would try to defeat others to establish his rule.

2. God, the Eternal, Absolute

God has to be Eternal then otherwise He would have a beginning. Suppose, we say God had a beginning, then there was a time when God did not exist. It means that he needed somebody else to make him exist. So there is somebody else who is God, not him. but as we agreed that there is only one God, therefore, there is no one else who make Him exist. When we say that God cannot be born, we are also saying that a creator cannot becomes his creation, because creation means what is in need of a creator. To be a creature, mean there had to be someone to create you. So if God becomes his creation, it means now he is in need of a creator. And this is absudity! As we know, A creation is not eternal. An eternal being is uncreated. We can conclude that the one God who is uncreated, has to be Eternal.

3. "He begets not, nor is He begotten"

It follows by logical necessity that if God is one, and if He is eternal, Then obviously He does not beget , Nor is he begotten. Because if He beget, then He will have a child and the child will have to be God-like. So there will then be two Gods, because "the son of a man" is "a man", "the son of a horse" is "a horse", but natural son of God should have to be a God. Since we agreed that there is only one God, you cannot have two. Some Christians say that Jesus and father are one God. This is again illogical claim, because If God is the Father and also the Son, He would then be the Father of Himself because He is His own Son. Moreover, If Jesus was begotten, then it means that the father is more eternal than him and more greater than him. That means you have greater God and lesser God. And "one God" cannot be greater or lesser than Himself.
OR If he was begotten, that means he would have father. Then the father will be older than him and more eternal than him. and we cannot have one who is more eternal than "ETERNAL"

The LITERAL "son of God" has to have both of two Characteristics.

1. He must have come from God OR He must have receive his life from God.
2. He must be the same kind of being as God otherwise he is not the son.

But each attribute excludes the possibility of the other.
If he receives his life from God, then he is not the same kind of being as father because God does not receive His life from anyone, that's why He is God.
If he is the same kind of being as God, then he is NO ONE'S son, because God is not the son of any being.

We see now that the two requirements in this case are Mutually exclusive. In Short, It is IMPOSSIBLE that God can LITERALLY have a son.

4. And there is none like unto Him
means He is unique unlike that which He has created.

Thats what islam teaches.
and I invite you to this God.

"Say: He is God, The One and Only. "God, the Eternal, Absolute.
"He begets not, nor is He begotten. And there is none like unto Him."
[Al-Qur’an 112:1-4]

Start visiting several Christian churces in your area that teach the Bible to be Gods word and the highest authority. But before you go, pray that the Lord will let you know in your heart when you are in the one HE wants you in. It's always worked for me. I have prayed that and visited 6 or 8 churches. As soon as I visit the one God wants me in, I know without a shadow of a doubt.

heh. Im not christian, but go to church. Seek out the truth, if your not happy, find someone that will tell you the truth. Someone you can trust. If not, then go on a truth hunt for yourself. Read about other religions, come to understand what the world has to offer, and one day either you will come back to chritianity, or you will find a better place. No matter what action you take, the best advice I can give you, is to take an action. If you dont do anything, you will be lost with no way of finding yourself.

It is good to be exposed to different methodologies of teaching. The trick is to take in everything you hear and filter it through your heart so that those things that strike a chord with you stay with you. If you start going to church, you are going to hear a lot of different "lessons." Just remain aware that these are only the words from the pastor's mouth, and his way of explaining them - and he is only one person, one opinion. You can give 20 pastors the same Bible verse and get 20 different lessons, 20 different explanations as to what it is supposed to mean. Therefore, it's best to take your own personal meaning from what you're taught.

It is good to look for the truth. There are a lot of false messengers out there. As far as it goes for Christianity, I'd say that none of Christ's teachings have been improved upon and nobody disproved the resurrection by producing the crucified body. I'd read "mere Christianity" by C S Lewis and "Evidence that Demands a Verdict" by McDowell. Good luck in the search.
