Well, my little sister got her hair cut at the hairstylist. My sister showed her a picture of what her hair should look like. The hairstylist had to cut her hair twice, and she did not even understand what the problem was. The same day, two adults, on the same day, thought that she was my little brother. I personally think she should be fired, because it cause my little sister emotional pain until it grew back.

the hairstylist was the manager, and she gave her a picture book with hairstyles to choose from herself

Personally I perfer not to use pictures that people bring into the salon because I am not the stylist that created the style, if you really want that style from a magazine you should try to find that stylist. Also you have to keep in mind that when you see a style in a magazine hours have been spent to achieve that look for the photo shoot, there all holding sprays and styling utensils used to achieve it, not just a 20 minute cut and BAM, it's just not that simple. I always try to explain this to my clients before even picking up a magazine, just explain to me how you want your hair cut, what is your goal. Then there are hair types, and textures, which can be very different from the model in a magazine and people come in thinking that the scissors have magic powers and they don't. But I don't think the stylist should be fired unless she knew your sister from a previous time and did this intentionally. If that were the case, every job, every position in life, whenever someone makes a mistake, should they loose their job? Regardless to whether they have a family or maybe she's a single parent with a morgage living on haircuts..... Who knows, but she shouldn't loose her job because of a mistake or the fear of just telling your sister she didn't know how to do the style and refer her to another stylist. Believe me, she won't try it again except on a mannican!!LOL But as for your sister having emotional pain, go to Claire's in the mall, buy some cute hair accessories and have some fun creating new fun ways to wear her hair until it grows back. Trust me, if the people around her that love her don't make a big deal out of it, she won't think it's such a big deal. It will grow back. But the main thing to do is make her feel good about herself. What if it were someone with cancer and all of their hair fell out, you would still love them the same and help them through the situation with love......

That would hurt so much. To have emotional pain over her hair. If her new hair didn't make her feel confident, then I think the hairstylist needs a new job. New hairstyles are supposed to make a person feel confident about themselves, because that's what they paid for. I have long waist length hair and I haven't made any big changes to it, except changing the color, but I usually just do stuff myself, because I wouldnt want the stylist to cut too much off. I would miss it.

I am a hair dresser so here's my advice....your sister needs to go back to the salon with the picture and ask to speak to the manager or owner. be courtious and polite but firm and ask for your money back and maybe some products too. Maybe your stylist is fresh out of school and she\he might have been really nervous too. Everyone makes mistakes thank goodness it was just hair[not surgery] so in time it will grow back. they say the only difference between a good haircut &a bad one is 1 week.

She probably won't get fired, but you should definitely get your money back! Everyone makes mistakes, but that doesn't mean you have to pay for them. Take it up with management. If it's been a long time ago, though, you probably won't get much since the cut isn't obvious any more.
