I have to get new shears this week but I'm not sure what ones I should get. I like my dog's hair short. And I use shears on my son, not all the time and cleaned ofcourse. I have never used dog shears. I don't knwo what ones to get or if their is a differance between dog and human shears or clippers if any. So can anyone tell me the differance between dog and human clippers and what ones would be best to stand up to use on my dogs. Thanks!

Either shear can be used for either species....I use the dog clippers on my husband!
Unless it is a professional pair, they are the same clipper, with different labels..

There is no difference. If you want your scissors to hold an edge then your want hard steel, the harder the metal of the scissors, the longer they hold an edge and the more they will cost. Or go to Sally shop or some supply store for your scissors. My mom has some sheers that are over $100.00 and some that are $12.00. But when she grooms me up for a show I look very handsome!
Look in the computer under canine grooming that might help you.

Get a clipper for dogs. They have stronger motors. www.petedge.com has some great ones. Anything by Wahl or Andis is good. I use both brands.

One time we bought people clippers at wal-mart from our dogs. Well they did not go though the hair. Buy dog clippers then you can use them on your dog or people!

Dog shears are probably more stirdy. But I can't see why you can't cut human hair with them as long as you have the hair attachments

we use professional shears for our dog, he doesn't like the eletric clippers at all.the sound of it bothers him so much that both groomers weren't able to groom him anymore, he got stressed out so bad. they only trim his nails for us eversince.
