id use the old one as a trade in

Unless there is a family need for two, trade-in or sell the old one. Storage and parking space is at a premium where we live and the insurance would be a waste of money.

Too many old cars, trailers, etc. don't look good parked in the front yard.

If the old one still runs, isn't a money pit, and is paid off, I'd hold on to it for a couple of years. If it's not worth the time or effort, I'd use it as a trade in for the new car.

I have always kept my older cars. The trade in amount is never really that much, and it sure is nice to be able to have a vehicle that you can use when your other is in the shop, etc.
I also bought a car that was smaller and had better gas mileage, however, my older vehicle had 4 wheel drive and was great in bad weather. It was nice to have it for back up when I needed to drive during bad storms, etc.
However, it can get a little expensive when you consider insurance, tags, etc.

you have to weigh the pros and cons for your situation.

many times occurring upkeep on no account will become too plenty to justify. it is not substantial what motor vehicle you force or how previous that's, all of them want many times scheduled upkeep and espresso upkeep. at the start, that Honda has an mind-blowing form of life left in it. it is going to pass yet another 100K and a variety of of alternative greater years in case you're looking after it. right that's what you may desire to evaluate while considering a clean motor vehicle. Are the upkeep costly. am i able to deal with the cost. If the expenses are severe, are they many times occurring, better than two times a twelve months. Do the expenses of upkeep exceed the alternative value of the vehicle. in case you have a motor vehicle that desires a rebuilt motor for $2500 will the value of that motor exceed the actual value of the vehicle? It isn't clever to speculate that style of money in a motor vehicle which will in basic terms be nicely worth $1500 while it gets decrease back on the line. keep in mind the value of the vehicle isn't per 'what's my motor vehicle nicely worth if I sell it on the open industry." that's per "how plenty money will I would desire to spend to replace my Honda with a competent new motor vehicle?" Assuming you very own this motor vehicle and make no money. this is genuine basic to justify spending $1200 a twelve months on upkeep once you talk paying for even a inexpensive new motor vehicle will value you a minimum of $3 hundred a month ($3600 a twelve months). Multiply that by 5 years (length of conventional new motor vehicle loan) and you will shop $12,000 over 5 years by conserving your Honda and repairing it as apposed to paying for something new. (and that's assuming the hot motor vehicle won't in any respect would desire to be repaired, which all of us comprehend isn't genuine) i will think of of an mind-blowing form of issues i could extremely do with $12000 than spend it on motor vehicle money.

I would keep it for two reasons:
1. You could sell it in the future.
2. If your new car has to go to the auto shop, you have a back up so you can still go places.
Only if it's a P.O.S. would I not keep it.

I would not keep the old car because of paying property taxes and insurance and maintenance. Besides, I need only one car.

If I could afford to keep it I would. I regret getting rid of my old car that I had when I was a teenager. You don't ever see them anymore and I would love to have it now.
