I'm a recent graduate with a degree in the field. I've seen job postings working with adolcent females that are looking for recent graduates.

Thing is, I'm male. Is that something I can apply for, or would have be seen as a conflict of interest? I can't imagine it being a problem but I'm also trying to be PC. Anyone in the field that can shed some light?

It is something that you can apply for and be very successful at. I am a social worker and have worked in facilities that were predominately male. The thing is as with any job that you will take, is that you have to establish boundaries and stick to them, even more so that you would if you were working with men. I am sure that the agencies themselves have protocol and training that will assist you in being successful in dealing with a female population. But keep in mind there are some things that do not change no matter what population you work with. ALWAYS be as professional as you can be. Keep your private life and your business life separate. Make sure that you follow the policy and procedures of the agency that you work for to the letter, especially when it comes to being in closed quarters with a client/resident/consumer, when counseling or offering advice, make sure that there is another worker present and make sure that your documentation is thorough and be sure to report any instances in which you were uncomfortable. There are others, but I am sure that you get the point. As long as you go in, abide by the rule and remain professional, you problems should be very limited.

I do work in a related field and can tell you, no matter what setting you are working in, you have to have good, healthy, strong boundaries. If you feel like you do, then I would go ahead and apply. They certainly can't rule you out because you are male. Give it some thought though...make sure you absolutely would not be tempted to cross any lines with any of the girls, no matter what the situation (you could probably expect that you might be made offers in return for leniency, etc.). Just make sure you are 100% sure with yourself first...if you are, go for it.
