Uhh... i've had this ketchup thats been in my basement for over 5 years and i dunno if it's safe to eat it... so...

Every product on your grocer's shelves has an expiration date. Take a look to see what it reads.

When in doubt, throw it out.

Is the foil seal under the cap still intact? If it's never been opened, it might be fine. Smell it first, though.

Ketchup does go bad. I was cleaning out an abandoned apartment and I found a thirty-year old bottle about half-full. It was all black and crusty.

YES!!!!!!!!!! Get some gloves, a trash bag, and if you are that hard up for ketchup, go to McDonald's cause they give it away for free. Also, you might wanna clean out the basement cause damn.

When in doubt, toss it out! That's nasty! Yes, it does go bad. There should be an expiration date on the bottle.
