Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person and anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.
With love in Christ.

It is a serious sin and there are consequences so stop as soon as you can. It is a sin because it is unnatural. Sexual pleasure is meant only for persons married. Masturbation becomes a sick addiction. I don't mean ugliness when I say that. It is hard to stop and you must speak with your pastor or priest. Find one that takes the matter seriously. The obvious purpose of sex is for the procreation of children. Next for the love between two married people. Masturbation frustrates the normal end of sex because it does not lead to the creation of a child. That is why it is a sin. This is what I learned when I took a course in preparation for marriage.
I can't think of the bible verse, but somewhere it talks about a man who "spills his seed" upon the earth and then suffers the wrath of God. Spills his seed means he did not use sex for the purpose it was intended. That's the same thing that happens in masturbation.

I've thought about this and I've read what other people/pastors/etc say. I think sex in all forms was made for the pleasure of a husband and wife. Plus, we know to lust after things is wrong. Therefore, if you are thinking about women and masturbating I believe God would see that as our sin. I know looking at porn is definitely a sin. God said to stay away from perversion. I think sexual sin, because it is not well defined in the Bible, is something a lot of people have issues with. I know that is not a clear answer. But for me, I believe it is a sin.

Well, I am not a christian, I am a muslim, but I wanted to say that it is better for you to wait till marriage. Holding a desire until the right time is much more rewarding. We are all weak, but if you feel its wrong it probably is. Try your best and definately stop the porn since you feel its a sin (and I agree with you) Try to control your desire when your older you will appritiate that you did. At 16 do your best just to live in the best way you can by becoming a strong healthy man that will benifit society and a good way. Do not overstress yourself by being too critical.
Pray that helps

If you accept the rules and doctorine of a religion that says it is then it is a sin for you to do it. If you reject religion, as many that consider the evidence against there being a God do, then the concept of sin does not exist. Of course there are always morals and laws (unless you want to live outside society as a savage) and these forbid many actions including some that fall under masturbation (doing it in public, crank calls to tell others what you are doing, using animals, doing it while driving a car etc).

Take a look at the bigger picture. There are two roads according to Matthew 7:13-15. If you spent your day trying not to do all the things that you are not suppose to be doing, then yuo will lose hope. However, if you spend yuor time focusing your energy and time on serving others and God, you won't find the need to do the questionable things.
You did answer your own question within your question. You asked how would pleasuring yourself actually be a sin.
If you have decided to follow TRADITIONAL CHRISTIAN values, then, yes it would be sinful because the very nature of Christianity is totally against self-service. We live our lives to serve God and bring Him pleasure. Christianity is against "self." Self equates to the works of the flesh. The bible teaches us to walk in the Spirit in order not to fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

Something like that would not be a sin. If it was the church would lose members, because many people do it. They knew that when they made Christianity and created the bible, so could not say it was. They have to give you some freedom. But look at it like this. Jesus did it. If you are really worried, let me just say it would help you to not have sex out of marriage, and that is mentioned as a sin. It is all BS, but just to help, what would your god want.

No, it's not a "sin." It's perfectly normal and healthy. NOT doing it is what's not healthy.
Looking at porn is also normal, although the way they portray women sometimes (assuming this is straight porn) is degrading. That's a judgment call.
Religious types will tell you it's a sin (except for the pagans). Maybe they already have. But it's not, in my opinion. It's the way your body is made, and what you're made to do. It's biologically perfectly normal. So don't sweat it. Relax, you're normal.
If you try to stop, you'll be forcing yourself to fight normal, healthy sexual energy, which at your age is going full steam--pardon the pun. Don't try to stop: that's how serial killers are made.
Just be private, don't hurt/frighten anybody else, and wash your hands when you're done. ;-)

Bud, your are doing good to keep it at 3 times a week, when I was your age I was beginning to wonder if it was possible to wear the thing out. I wouldnt worry too much about it. Sounds to me like you are a normal sixteen year old boy. I know it says in the bible you should not touch of your own flesh, but its alot safer these days, they didnt have VD when the book was written so perhaps even god would be willing to make an exception to the rule. Either way I dont think anyones going to go to hell for self gratification.

What leads you to even wonder if if might be a sin? Certainly nothing you have read in the bible, so where is it coming from?
Porn is stupid for the most part, but again not a sin. Those web pages will get you a virus though.
