The dentist will numb you up so you shouldn't feel any pain. The worst thing about my root canal was the length of time I had to be there--at least a couple hours. So I would recommend that you bring a headset and lots of your favorite music. That will help the time pass and you will be done before you know it.

I had a root canal several months ago. It only took 50 minutes and I felt no pain. Modern dentistry has come a long way. It may take a while, but you should be pain free. Take care.

Actually, the technology and practice of giving root canals isn't nearly as painful and torturous as it used to be. I went in and had one and honestly, it was not that bad. The worst part was just keeping my mouth open that wide for that long, so my jaw was kind of sore afterward. But that's it -- so don't worry -- don't stress yourself out -- it's not bad at all. Good luck.

I have had it done and have friends whom have had it done.
It's not as bad as it sounds.
So just go in with a positive attitude. To days dentists do everything they can to make any procedure as easy on you as is humanly possible. I am a senior citizen and I can remember when it was scary to go to the dentist, but now I have no fear at all. Don't be afraid, it's all in the mind.

I've had a root canal done without any pain relief (long story). You will be fine. Just don't think about it. Picture your more beautiful smile.

Many dentists provide sedatives (i.e. valium) to patients who are getting teeth pulled and/or root canals. That should help. A lot.
