herself as a second job. Prostitution in New Zealand is a legal profession. This woman was found out by her colleagues and forced to quit being a prostitute. Do you think this was wrong, as prostitution is legal there

It depends on her department's policy regarding alternate employment.

Here in the US, many departments have policies that prohibit officers and even dispatchers from having any other type of employment without prior approval from the department that they work for. This is for insurance purposes and also for reasons of public opinion.

As you can plainly see from this forum, some people find a reason to hate on anything that the police do. So public image is a very important thing to maintain.

In closing, I'd say that if her department didn't have a policy already in place regarding other employment of officer conduct while off duty, then forcing her to stop would be wrong.

I disagree with your definition of prostitution as profession. At best is an immoral activity. New Zealand is not a poor country where citizens cannot make an honest living.

I live in Nevada, where prostitution is legal. Regulate it and tax the s**t out of it just like gambling, cigarettes, booze, and gasoline. Still don't see anything wrong with any of this, however...
