When one of the commandments is "thou shalt not kill"
Even if you change the word 'kill' to 'murder', How can it ever be justified to kill innocent children even if they are considered the 'enemy' can babies possibly ever be an 'enemy'?
And how do you feel that abortion is not only not meantioned in the bible, but is not 'murder' under law and never really was?
It seems you can justify more baby slaughter with the bible than anything.

Baby murder is all over the bible....It's actually one of God's favorite conversion tools..www.evilbible.com has it broke down for you. Its fascinating that people who read the bible everyday just skip over these facts like they aren't there in black and white, and then they claim that their "faith" is a "peaceful" form of religion. My favorite are the people who put the ten commandment signs in their yards., but nowhere on the sign does it mention that you are to kill those who don't follow those commandments. I think the govt. should require some "fine print" at the very least.

God doesn't need to justify anything he does, hes God. If it serves his purpose to create a little baby, only to have that baby killed, then that is his perogative. The death of say 100,000 Cannanite babies may sound cruel, but not at the expense of saving 100,000 Jewish ones. If it served God's purpose to have the Cannanite's completely destroyed, so that Israel might survive, so be it. In light of the fact that the Massiah would come from the Jews, the destruction of the Cannanite's becomes simply part of God's plan.

Lets use you as an example. In the writing of your question, you may have written a previous draft that you didn't like. So you deleted it. What right does one character of that question have to exist, if you, its creator doesn't want it to. The answer is none, because a "e" on an e-mail is so far beneath you, an "e"'s creator.

The fact that the word "abortion" isn't mentioned in the bible doesn't mean it isn't murder. The word "handgun" isn't in the bible, but someone walking into your home and gunning down your family would still be considered "murder."

I encourage you to get out your bible, if you own one, and fine any verse or scripture that mandates the slaughter of babies. If you look you might find one, but once taken out of a particular historical context, can be used exactly as you suggest to justify murder.

Your thesis needs rethinking...

you can justify everything with the bible. Trust me I know. I live in the heart of the bible belt. It can be interpreted so many different ways so that any 1 group can make it seem to say what they want. How can you make a man out of dirt? how can you make a woman out of that dirt mans rib? The whole book kinda makes no sense. More people have died for religion or God than anything else. Why are we at war right now? I grew up thinking that God was a God of love not a God of fear and hate. Somewhere things changed I guess.

you really have taken all this information out of context and you really are not correct in what you say.
God is perfect, just and merciful. He does what He wants to and who are we to question that.

The Egyptian pharoah was given a very long time to let the Jewish people go,but he did not, so finally God used His wrath in metering out justice. The pharoah ignored God even though he saw what God was capable of doing; plagues and so on.

Also what about the guy killing all those Hebrew babies because the Egyptians were scared of the Jewish people taking their country over; and that is the reason Moses grew up in the house of Pharoah in the first place. His mother could not keep him a secret so set him free in a basket on the Nile praying God would find Moses a safe place awy from the baby killer.

Also the Jewish people went to Egypt because there was a famine in the land; they were brought there by Joseph. His family came to Egypt to survive and God made Joseph a powerful person so that the Hebrews would survive. Joseph was second in command to pharoah.

the Egyptians over the years, conveniently forgot that Josephs God, the Almighty God had saved them from starvation and extinction in the 7 years of famine. God had shown Pharoah the future in the dream he experienced. The dream was so scary, that pharoah searched high and low for an answer. The dream was interpreted by God and the interpretation given to Joseph to help the Pharoah. Pharoah was so thankful that he gave Joseph 2nd place in his government.

It seems to me abortion and killing are mentioned in the Bible. Abortion is murder but that does not mean the prolifers should go around killing people that abort babies.

Children are taken care of by God, here and in heaven. I am sure there are more children we have never met here up there in His care; put to death early because of evil people. And because it's easier to run away from mistakes than face them head on and take responsibility for them.

Yeah, I thought there was some fine print under "Thou Shalt Not Kill" but then, Indiana Jones found the stone tablets and he's not telling -- I mean, after what happened when he found the Ark of the Covenant -- it's just not safe to trust humans with such higher knowledge. There was probably an asterisk after the Commandment, sort of like when you get an offer from a credit card company for 0% interest.* The Bible contradicts itself so much it can't even be called good fiction.

*0% for the first month, then its 29.99 percent interest after that for the rest of your life, unless you miss a payment, then it's 33.9%.

God never justifies it - people do.
God's name is used to bring passion, to make sure you're winning. God has no personal involvement in issues that individuals can't handle well.

Don't try god as something that can be judged.

Until fairly recently, all children were considered sub-human. It was up to the parents to do whatever. And now children have rights and all that. You gotta think about the times and the BELIEFS of people, cuz god is nothing to point fingers at here.

Here, you can see, God kills children:
From there Elisha went up to Bethel. While he was on his way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him. "Go up baldhead," they shouted, "go up baldhead!" The prophet turned and saw them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two shebears came out of the woods and tore forty two of the children to pieces. (2 Kings 2:23-24 NAB)

Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children. (Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT)

Was that the answer you wanted? I can find more, easily.

2 points. I personally, don't find much point in religion, mostly because I consider the only point of religion is to be able to pick fights with people who have different beliefs, but I digress. I think that, if there was a "god" then all things would be justified, because they were meant to happen, and, just as every death, murder, or sacrafice is neccessary to keep all things in balance, a person or group of people is needed to question these types of things and question reality. And though I rant and ramble.... I still get two points ^_^

Thou means You....you shall not kill
(I'm filling in this part) because you don't know when death is better than life.
I do.
You don't know when the death of some may affect the eternal life of all.
I do.
You would relive your action with pain and regret the rest of your life.
I would not.
I love you too much to let you make life and death decisions on your own. At this time in man's existence, before he has the written word to guide Him, I will tell him who to kill, and the burden will be on me....it will all end up there anyway.

This is what I am imagining He will say when we ask Him in person, but hey, jmho.

That's just crazy.

People can "justify" anything they want by misquoting the Bible.

You can't really read the Bible and know the heart of God and believe that abortion is OK.

When God says "I knew you when you were in your mother's womb". I believe that He thought of the unborn as children and not just cells.

Besides, you are twisting things. We know in war people die. That has never changed.
