You know that arrow that points to the car temperature?( Cold to hot)
Whever I go to places 5miles plus, (like to the beach, or to places like that...sometimes even to the neighboring city!!) it slowly goes to the H..then it reaches there and a light goes on.. I think a sound goes on too.. Then we have to turn off the car and wait 20-30 mins till it cools down, and go again. We have to continue doing that...
ALSO: whever the car goes slowly( if there's traffic..)for a long time, it overheats..:(

PLEASE help! P.S: I bought it used.
THX!

Check the coolent level, cooling fan may not be working and the thermostat may be sticking. Just some things to check

there are many reasons, but the easiest for you to check would be the coolant level. Under the hood there should be what looks like a white jug-type tank that is labeled coolant. It will have the level needed on the side. If it is low you can buy anitfreeze/coolant at walmart or auto parts store. For ease, you may want to buy the stuff that is labeled "premixed" or else you will need to mix it with water. Distilled water gives you the best results. Other then that it could be your thermostat, a clogged radiator or a few other things that a mechanic would need to look at. One other quick note, if you can smell an almost syrupy sweet oder from under your hood you may have a coolant leak. If you do that would also need attention A.S.A.P. Hope I helped!

You have a cooling system problem and there is no way to know if its the thermostat, low coolant (although i think a warning comes on for low coolant) or the fan and I don't know for sure if it has electric fan or not but if it does more then likely that's your problem for some reason its not coming on. You can ruin a engine real quick with over heating so taker in quick.

It is most likely a fan issue, your electric fan is probably not coming on and when you are traveling at low speeds there is no air flow through the radiator. When it is getting hot check and see if the fan is on, if it is not that is your problem. Good Luck.

I don't think it is a thermostat issue or it would happen all the time not just at low speeds, radiator is a possibility though.

it is not what i could call a solid deal. That motor vehicle is 12 years previous and on the element the place there are going to be an mind-blowing form of ingredient nickle and dimeing you to dying. 'ninety 9 city vehicles right here choose for greater or less $2000-$3000 in solid difficulty. i've got considered severe mile ones for as low as $1200. additionally, in case you are the guy asking on the subject of the ball joints, something is screwy, there isn't any way ball joints on that motor vehicle are wiped out at 47K. Ball joints does not make the vehicle pull left. i could suspect an twist of destiny or something like that.

Thermostat is stuck, or the is little water in the engine, if so check for a leak. If nothing is found check your fan clutch.
