Observation is the best method! See how long it takes after food before the poop comes out. I have looked after dogs that had to go out within five minutes, and with others it was more like half an hour.

Take him out after he eats, and stay there until he poops. Sorry, it's a long drawn out process. Take him for a walk if you want. Anyway when you get the expected results give him/her a treat and praise, praise, praise. Oh, my gosh, your the best puppy in the world! You just pooped! Hey make it a party, If there is no poop, return the pup to a confined area, and try again 15 min. later. They're not supid, they catch on, and if you let them..... they will train you......... I normally feed my dogs at 5 in the afternoon, i take them out 3 times aday, AT 8 IN THE MORNING, at 1 and again at 6. My puppy was very good and clean as soon as we had him, but i use to let him outside as soon as he woke up, only during the day.But it always helps to keep a good walking routine so the dogs get use to it and do their buisness outside. Hope that helps.

I just adopted a beautiful shepherd mix from the pound, and they told me 10-15 minutes after eating and drinking. They also told me that a puppy can hold it for one hour for every month old it is. My puppy is a month and a half old, so it can hold it for an hour and a half AT MOST. Good luck

Depends on your dog. They all have different digestive systems. But usually 30 minutes is a good time.

take him out for walks right after he eats, that way he will get his food to digest more and then he will want to go #2 outside.
