They are one in purpose, not literally one, You have the Father who is Jehovah God, then you have his Son who is Christ Jesus also known in heaven as Michael who is the Arch Angel, the holy spirit is Gods active force or power that he uses to accomplish his will. John saw a vision of Jesus seated on a throne at his Fathers right hand, John said he saw Jesus and God in vision seated next to each other, why did he not see the holy spirit seated on a throne with them, because the holy spirit is Gods active force not a person. The Catholic encyclopedia even admits that the trinity is not true and that the holy spirit is spoken of in the Bible as something and not someone. The Bible says God has no beginning and no end, yet the Bible clearly shows Jesus had a beginning, he is the first born of all creation.

Hard to understand.
I just think of God - The Creator. the Holy Spirit as the Enforcer type - and Jesus as the Go to Man.
It might seem irreverent, but that was the only way I could reconcile the concept with out driving myself nuts.

And really, if you are a believer, what does it matter?

Ahhh! You are asking about the mystery of the Holy Trinity. Honestly, even though I am a priest I cannot explain it clearly either. It is a mystery. Now do not get me wrong. When I say mystery I am not making an excuse for my ignorance (especially when I have already admitted to it). Yet, mysteries are real and are not meant to be a catch phrase for "I don't know" or "we say this, but its nor real." Mysteries are irrational. Now don't get me wrong, when I say irrational I am not saying "crazy" or "illogical". What I mean is that the Holy Trinity is irrational, it is "beyond human reasoning." However, there are things within creation that leads us to a type of understanding that a Trinity can exist.
For example, we look to the sky. water comes down in liquid form. In evaporation the same water is now in a gaseous state. And we can take this same water and freeze it into a solid state, but all the while it is the same water being used.
We could always go to the classic example, which St. Patrick gave to the Irish. The three leafed clover. Three leaves from one stalk. It is all the same plant.
If we wish to get complicated we could go to Quantum Physics in which an atom can occupy an infinite amount of space, but is still the one atom in any space it occupies.
Then there is the example of the human person. Husband and Wife love each other and a child is born. The Husband and Wife are one in the act of love and a child comes from that unitive act. These are ONLY reflections of the mystery of the Trinity and evidence as to its existence. It is what we perceive in creation and use to express and understand it as much as we may.
Ultimately, the Godhead is One and is known to be so in the three persons of the Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father loves the Son totally and the Son loves the Father totally and the Holy Spirit is generated from them and unifies them in their love, just as a baby unifies Husband and Wife. And this may indcate a way of understanding the Trinity--- it is through relationship we may understand this mystery. Remember God is relational. God is not a logical equation to answer or a riddle to solve. God is a being to experience in relationship. Just reflect on how you relate to another and part of that mystery comes to light.
As I told my parishioners, "Not all mysteries are known and understood by our solving them. Some are known and understood by our experiencing them." In other words, we may know more about the mystery in letting the mystery teach us instead of solving it according to our own ideology.
Also, a statement from Tertullian helps me for some reason. He said, "Credo ut impossible". Translated as "I believe because it is impossible."
I do not know if this has been helpful, I hope it has. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.
God's and your beast of burden

any one should be confuse by this. because they are three seperate beings. and 3 cannot be 1. because 1+1+1=3 not 1

one person, God the Father + one person, God the Son + one person, God the Holy Ghost = one person, God the What? 1=1+1+1 or 1+1+1=1 ? ------- some say 1x1x1=1 God. --- they fail to realize that ? 1*3=3 not 1

If God is the Father and also the Son, then He would then be the Father of Himself because He is His own Son. This is illogical!

If Jesus was begotten, then it means that the father is more eternal than him and more greater than him. That means you have greater God and lesser God. And "one God" cannot be greater OR lesser than himself.

Bible, 1 Corinthians 14:33 says that "For God is not [the author] of confusion". So, if God's nature is not one of confusion, then it should not be necessary to command us to simply "have faith" in the Trinity because it is a "mystery."

You can think of a Father, you can think of a son, you can think of holy ghost, but you cannot think of a being who is the result of superimposing all three

Quran says in Surah Maidah chapter 5 verse 73
"They do blaspheme who say
God is one of three
In a Trinity: for there is
No god except One God.
If they desist not
From their word (of blasphemy),
Verily a grievous penalty
Will befall the blasphemers
Among them."

Islam makes sense. and I invite you to this one true God. which is called as God the father in Christianity. and Allah in Islam.

It is a very good question. I'll ask that when I get up there but I thiknk it means The are phycologically one. Meaning I think they are all for the same thing, so they stick together. Like When you fall in love, you and one other person become one, in both life and in the mind. They are hoping for t he same thing. The Holy Spirit, God and Jesus are the same. They are hoping for the same thing, so their minds are on.

God is beyond our comprehension or math but this is who He is. God says in Genesis "Let US make man in OUR image". We are to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. If it were just the Father then we would only say the Father.....God is one and they are one. Im glad you are researching it.....God bless you. if you want to find out more about it www.carm.org has a good website on Christian doctrine explained.

they all are shown to be different persons ( Father, Son, Holy Spirit), who relate to each other as individuals, yet they all share the same attributes as God, which we know there can only be ONE of.
And God shares his attributes ( eternality, uncreatedness, perfect knowlege, love, power, glory etc with no one else. Yet all three persons can be seen in Scripture as having these attributes. Thus, logically the only conclusion that fits ALL the evidence, is that there is ONE God ( divine being) who exists in three Persons.

just like an egg is an egg, there is the white the yolk and the shell. all one egg but equally 3 different parts.
Hope that helps,
oh and I find that sometimes you can over analyze. just believe and have faith. God will make all things known in due time.
God Bless
