There are many sites in which you can do your taxes online and its quite simple... no tax knowledge is required. The way these sites work is they will ask you simple yes or no question and you fill in information that is relevant to you such as your name, address and information on your w-2. Once you have input all the information, the software system will put all the information on the appropriate tax forms!

I've been reading about www.icanefile.org and it appears to be a really good site and its free! You can efile and use direct deposit (also free). I read an article on the California General Attorney's website so I think its a credible website. Because the service is offered by a non-profit, they aren't looking to rip you off. If you need more info, check out the IRS website... they have a lot of resources.

Hope this helped!

yes, I've done mine that way 5 or so years, and this past year I've helped others do theirs online; next year I'll do my parents taxes online....it's quite simple once you get used to it

the trick is to use the same tax software every year so you learn it and there aren't surprises

I recommend TurboTax

If your income is low enough you can go to IRS.gov and fine many free preparer companies who will walk you through for free. Also taxact.com is a good no cost service. If you have high income then taxact or turbotax are both good.

taxactonline.com

Very easy, just answer their questions and fill in the information. You can file a paper return or to the EZ File online.
