My new kitten has used the litter tray several times, but only crapped in it. He has NEVER urinated in his litter tray. Why?

because your wardrobe is a much more spacious toilet. Have you checked it lately?

Since it is a new kitten, most likely he just needs to be trained to use the litter box for urination too. Raising foster kittens, I often find that they will use the litter for defication but will find a corner for urinating. Many of these kittens didn't have a mom for very long to show them how to use the litter. If you catch him urinating on the floor, pick him up and put him in the litter box. Take his paw and have him scratch at the litter box. It's a good idea with young kittens to keep them in a small space most of the time at first, if the area is too big they will find another place to go to the bathroom. Then make the area larger and larger as he shows to you that he can find the potty on his own. If you are concerned about a urinary tract infection, you can buy special litter at the grocery store that have granules that will turn blue if there is a urinary tract infection. But this sounds mostly like a training issue.

Get another tray with a different type of litter. I went throught 4 different brands/types before I found one that she likes.

Try cleaning the tray out every time he uses it; some kits are funny like that!!

Are you sure it hasn't urinated? Kittens don't pee much, and it could be that the litter is just soaking it up
