My friend has a criminal case, the probation was revoked and the case file says, date set for Adjudication. what does that mean exactly? It was a self administered probation.

The probation was supposed to go on till November. Is it possible my friend could go to Jail? I don't think it would be a long time since it was a first offense, but he somehow violated his probation agreement, although he did most of the agreement. I know sometimes they continue the probation with new conditions or he will have to do some time perhaps? It was originally a DUI.

Adjudication is the legal process by which an arbiter or judge reviews evidence and argumentation including legal reasoning set forth by opposing parties or litigants to come to a decision or judgment which determines rights and obligations between the parties involved.

Your boy screwed up....he was granted probation in exchange for a lighter charge or to avoid jail on his DUI. He did not completely live up to those terms, and his probation was revoked because of that. (Didn't do all of the Community Service hours he was supposed to do....did he??) Date was set for adjudication.. a hearing will be held for the judge to hear the facts regarding what your friend did..or didn't do.. to cause the court to violate and revoke his probation. The judge will impose fine or sentence as he sees fit following the hearing. Most likely this is gonna cost him a bunch of money...or some time in County Jail. Talk REAL NICE to the Judge........
