monosodium glutamate is a safe additive to foods and contain 1/3 of sodium than table salt.
Glutamate is found in nearly all foods including high protein foods such as dairy, fish, and meat. Glutamate is also produced by the human body.

I have never heard that but alot of people are very sensitive to it, that's why when you go to a Chinese Restaurant, some people become very ill,
Here is a list of An unknown percentage of the population may react to MSG and develop MSG symptom complex, a condition characterized by one or more of the following symptoms:
burning sensation in the back of the neck, forearms and chest
numbness in the back of the neck, radiating to the arms and back
tingling, warmth and weakness in the face, temples, upper back, neck and arms
facial pressure or tightness
chest pain
headache
nausea
rapid heartbeat
weak pulse
violent dreams
bronchospasm (difficulty breathing) in MSG-intolerant people with asthma
drowsiness
So I guess it would not be something that you would want to use a lot of .

Monosodium glutamate is the sodium salt of the naturally occurring acid, glutamic acid. Glutamic acid is in almost all the protein that you eat so it is difficult to see how it could cause cancer.

It's possible, but no more than anything else these days. Joe Jackson said "Everthing gives you cancer", and he's right.
BTW, it is monosodium glutamate.

The cancer part isn't proven, but it is proven to degrade the attention span of children. That's enough bad news for me to avoid the stuff.

In China, M.S.G is used in almost everything.(So I have heard). I havn't heard about it causing cancer, but those who have heart conditions are to be cautious of it, it coagulates the arteries and can produce a heart attack. Everything in moderation.
