Go to your local animal shelter and pick out what kind of dog's personality seems to match best with yours. Remember, breed does matter, but it's all an individual things, and mutts tend to have combinations of factors that purebred dogs just lack completely. :)

a mastiff. They are big and look good as a guard dog, but have real good temperaments. Brilliant with kids too. I have 2 mastiffs and 2 boys aged 8 and 10. The dog is so gentle with them, yet very protective of the family and property.
I dont think that i would get another breed after having this breed. I think they are great.

you should adopt one from a shelter. or go on petfinder.com that is where I found both my pups. drove 2 hours for one, and 5 hours for the other, and they are the best dogs ever!!! The white one is a pitbull mix and the brindle one is an american bulldog mix. definitely get a shelter dog.. there are SO Many.

well if you like feisty dogs a chiuaua is a good pet, cavalier king Charles spaniels are quiet and calm but getting a dog from the pound is a good idea also cause they need a home more then a bred dog.

depends on what your living situation is. do you live in an apartment or a home? what size yard do you have?

based on my experience going to the humane society today, i'd choose a dog in need of a good home from a shelter. they have a variety, pure breds and mixed breeds, most well-tempered and lovable. just my opinion since i was there today

It is according to what energy level you have. Go on the internet and search each type of dog. This will tell you what dog you would be compatable with.

it depends on how big your house/apartment is, how much time you can spend with it, how big or small you want your dog to be, how much you are willing to spend for it's grooming needs, and ect.

try this website: http://www.purinaone.com/dogcare_breed_selector.asp

and consider adopting a dog/puppy! :) good luck with your new dog.
