Legislation Will Deny Illegal Immigrants Non-Emergency State Services.
Colorado Springs, CO
With legislation to take effect Tuesday denying
illegal immigrants some non-emergency state services, the state is preparing an expanded list of documents to prove legal residency.
M. Michael Cooke, executive director of the state revenue
department, said she is writing an emergency rule expanding the number of acceptable identification documents.
The new law lists only four such documents, driver's licenses, state identification cards, tribal documents and military I-D
cards.
In addition to adding other documents, waivers will be available for some homeless people and some others who would have difficulty
getting the other documents.
