I had braces twice- once in the 60s and once in the 90s.

Believe me, the braces I had in the 60s were horrible! These were metal bands that went around the teeth with the wires, too. I had to wear a night brace. Talk about nerdy! That was it! As I recall, they hurt,too.

My experience with braces in the 90s were a lot different. The braces were glued to my teeth and I had wires, but not as I remembered in the 60s.

It does stink for now. But, think about the future- your smile will be wonderful. Most people get their first impression from a smile.

Hang in there! Persevere! You will look beautiful and the problems with the braces will all be worth it in the end.

Yes, they do suck...some. They hurt and I just do not like paying the dentist to put you through that kind of pain, but the outcome is a great beautiful smile. Imagine back in the early 1900's! They must have really hurt them and have been some funky looking things. My braces have made me so cool and everybody wishes they were like me and my other friend in the 7th grade because we are the only ones in our grade with braces. Ah the pain we go through to have a beautiful smile and be popular. If you have to get them just ask your dentist and he/she will be happy to explain it to you.

i just got mine a few weeks ago, they hurt for like 4 days. then i could eat solid foods again. then i got painful mouth sores a couple days after that. then when i went 2 the dentist again, he had to replace one of my bands and had to put a spring in, which really hurts my teeth.

btw, u might not get a spring. i got one cuz there was a little space where there was a tooth under the gum. so its just 2 make space 4 the tooth 2 grow in
