I'm in the process of talking to someone that I like and I know for a fact that he likes me. But I still have deep feelings for a guy I might not even see again. Should I let that get in the way of happiness with the new guy or should I wait until I know the old guys out of my system?

go for the new guy. the old one will disappear. this may be the chance to have a soulmate. but this just advice. follow your own intuition. go with your guts. before you decide, look at what is keeping you back from letting go. and then you'll find the answers that lie beneath the surface.

In my humble opinion, the new guy has no chance if the old guy still has a place in your heart. You will always wonder about him, always wonder what would have happened if circumstances hadn't gotten in the way, and you will never be truly committed to someone new if you are still committed to "shrining" the memory of someone old.
Be friends with this guy first. Tell him up front that you like him but you are still getting over so and so and you're not ready for "that kind" of relationship yet because you want to be true to someone new.
If he's truly interested in you, he will realise that the best way to be the new guy that you are truly committed to would be best accomplished by being your friend first and allow that friendship between you to grow into a lasting relationship.
If he doesn't, you're wasting your time with him because he will only see you as Ms. Right Now.

The best way to get the old guy out of your system is to start seeing the new guy. What if you put this new guy on hold for someone you might never see again and he finds someone else? The old guy is gone for a reason right?

Give yourself a bit of time to get over the old before stepping into the new. Be friends with him first, do stuff together as friends, but don't make it a date. Make it just friends hanging out. Then, once you have given yourself some time, then try the dating thing! Just don't sit around waiting for the "old" guy to come back into your life. Not worth it!

Don't wait around for someone you may never see again , you would be wasting valuable time in the pursuit of happiness. If the guy you have feelings for felt the same way about you ..he would have told you before he left or would not have left at all. If it was not his choice to leave he would have kept in touch if he had feelings for you.

I say go for the new guy, as for the old guy, one way to get him out of your system is to date someonelse. And really don't know the history between you and the old guy. Ex boyfriends are ex's for a reason. Obviously didn't work out so move on forget him girl you can find someone who will be good to you.

Why hold yourself back?
Try this new guy out and if you like him, you will forget about the other one. Dont waste your time over a guy. See other guys and enjoy life. If the old guy comes back then see how your feelings stand then but for now live your life.

Been there love, get it over quickly. You already know you may not see the first guy again, and unless he ask you to marry him and go with him to where ever it is he is going. Take the sure thing. After all
you nay find out the second guy is the one that the "fates" had picked for you all along.
