I was always taught, and I taught all my children, that the best you can do is what God deserves. I was one of the kids that always had to wear home made clothes, and because we used our finances to foster children, most every child I raised had home made clothes. But whatever we had---and they had no designer labels---we made sure it was whatever was the best we could do.
If shorts is all you have, then wear them and go to church----Thank you Lord! If you have holes in your jeans and those are the only pants you have, then you wear them and you praise God and thank him that you have a pair of pants to wear to church.
Give your best to God---whatever that is--and he will bless you for it.

It depends on what your church leader thinks.... God doesn't care as long as you don't profit immorally in His church. I think it hurts God more if we simply don't respect him. But if your pair of shorts is the only best attire you have, God understands that you are dressing your Sunday best just for Him. Ultimately, it's an agreement between you and Him alone.
Some church leaders might say it's a sin to wear shorts to church because we should be respectful and mindful in God's house. Fair enough. But I am aware of a few churches that try too hard to keep up appearances and that's precisely what Jesus doesn't want to see....people exhibiting a hypocritical level of faith.
I'd pose you a question instead, if an impoverished man walks into the church in shorts, is he more sinful than anyone else?
I believe that, at the end of our life's journey on earth, God simply asks one question "Do you love Me?", that's all.

First let me say that I am not a person of faith, but I think I can help.
Depending on your beliefs, there are two types of action: actions that are sins and those that aren't. A sin is a sin reguardless of the place. If wearing shorts outside of church isn't a sin, then I fail to see how it could be inside the church.
Not dressing up isn't a sign of disrespect. Think of how shallow God would be if he judged on apperances like that. Based on the Bible's account of God, the Christian God looks deep into the heart.
In other words, It is not a sin

A sin...No, but some would say that it would be a matter of respect. Personally, if the church had a problem with someone who wants to seek out the word of God 7 happens to be wearing shorts... I'm sorry but that's not a place I would want to be.

I can't think of one single verse in the Bible that deals with shorts in church. Of course, I can't think of one single verse in the Bible that deals with much of anything in church, except possibly the dangers of being a long-winded preacher...
Is it bad? That, I think, depends on the church. I have been in a church in a small beach town near Galveston, TX, where shorts for men and women were the norm. A very laid back bunch of people, living on the beach... On the other hand, I've also been in a church in Florida where wearing shorts in or around the church building, whether it was during a service or not, was strictly taboo.
Personally, I enjoyed the church in Texas alot more........

It is not the best choice of attire for church, but it is not a sin. It could be a sin if the shorts were too tight, too short, overly sexual looking, but if done in good taste with them about at knee length and not too tight it would be okay to wear them to church.

it's disrespectful. i think that when i'm at church, i need to be my best for God (even when i'm at home.) in some churches the pastors might not approve of wearing shorts. i don't think that wearing shorts to church is a very good idea, either. but i don't think that it's a sin.

Personally I don't think it is a sin, just as long as they are like bermuda (I can't spell I apologize) Shorts. Bacuse It is a sin to make your fellow christian brothers lust. Or make them thenk of sex. Which may happen if your shorts are to short.
It also depends on the church, if they are all wearing like knee length skirt, i would say don't wear them because you would be outcasted possibly. If still worryed Ask the youth pastor or the regular pastor.

God doesn't care what you wear; he cares what's in your heart. If you go to church wearing shorts because it's hot but you still want to be in church and worship God, then there's nothing wrong with it, and the people who have a problem with it need to get off their high horses. If you wear shorts to church just to provoke people, on the other hand, then you're the one with the problem.

It is not a sin to wear shorts to church - I do not think that God is all that concerned with what you wear to worship Him. Whether it is 'bad' or not all depends on the dress standards of your place of worship.
