Why are tasers a good choice for law enforcement?

So they can apprehend a suspect with out beating them up, or getting beat up, or shooting them.

A taser(just a brand name) is more effective then pepper spray. There is no cross contamination from a taser as there is with pepper spray. It reduces the chance of injury to suspect and officer. A taser has less joules then an AED. A taser works as an EMD (electro-muscular disruption) device. Meaning, your muscles are made to contract through a non-fatal dose of electricity. Taser Brand tasers were designed to mimic a certain frequency of our brains.
They work. People do not die from them.

They aren't..What if a person has a heart condition??? The heart works with electrical impulses so a taser can easily be fatal.
Officers and the public think this is a harmless way to incapacitate suspects and therefore don't try other less lethal tactics...big mistake..time will tell

FYI, the deployment of a taser is no less paperwork that striking someone with a baton. It still requires a Use of Force report.

well the taser is just a way to make someone suffer even before being bought to jail.and that just brings in a few more tax dollars to the police department.Now everbody gets 2 donuts at morning briefing.

For the police-looks better on video than having to hit someone with a nightstick and less paperwork than shooting someone.
For the bad guy-less chance of injury than getting hit with a nightstick or getting shot.

effects are benign so you won't have any symptoms later on. much better than a bullet through the chest or a night stick to the throat.
