You are being lied to by your Christian leaders. You are allowed to pray in school or anywhere else you want. No school prohibits individual praying nor could they.

What you cannot do is impose your religion on others. That includes creating situations in which it is stated or implied that Christians will get prefered treatment in any respect. That would be undemocratic and try to turn our democracy into a despotic theocracy, like they have in Iran.

The ecucational process is not based on religious belief or indoctrination of a religious belief. In other words you are not in school for religious reasons. If that is what you want you have your church to do that for you.

Why on earth would you care? You pray in church, and maybe at home. You study in school. Don't mix them up. Please.

Frankly, there is nobody who says you can't say a little prayer at school. If you want to do so and are not creating a disruption that could get you in trouble, by all means, go ahead. But don't be so venal as to commit the sin of pride and go about praying just so you can be seen praying.

Think of it this way - ok, we can pray in school, and we'll let the school run the prayer session. Since we all have different beliefs and different religions, what should they do? How would you feel if they made you, during prayer time, pray to Shiva? There are a lot more Hindus on this planet than Baptists. Would you really want that to happen in your school?

School is about knowledge. Religion is about belief. They are not the same thing. To the extent we can all learn to distinguish the two, and to separate them, we will all benefit. Belief does not trump knowledge. Practice your beliefs, but don't act on beliefs in the face of contrary knowledge. And don't for one minute think your beliefs are shared with every single person around you.

You ARE allowed to pray --- quietly and privately.

Public/loud praying is not allowed because there are so many different faiths attending public schools overall, and no one should impose their beliefs on others, especially in a secular government setting.

It' the culture we've become. Compare morality & crime stats to that issue with regards to a time line. Interesting! As Christians we can pray for those who oppose it for God to soften their hearts. Let us pray often and whenever we can. God hears our silent prayers. Love, Nanny

For the same reason you also can't cuss/curse at your teachers. You can cuss under your breath/in your head, just not out loud. It's the same for praying. If you want to pray out loud, go to church.

You can pray, just don't let anyone know about it while you are on the school grounds.

We are allowed to pray individually, but they are not allowed to hold group prayer or to enforce prayer on others who don't believe.

Well yes we do have freedom but not all people believe in god or just one god...so it may be offensive to others that believe in something else.
