Not sure about the mop or broom part BUT you can buy the cardboard form at a craft store or gag store on cover it to make it really pretty.

"paid for food, favors, and travel because she insisted I have it in a city I live 3 hours away from" What is it about showers that causes people to forget the word NO?!? Honest to God, I'll never understand this! I've hosted several bridal showers, and if the bride was ever rude enough to tell me - the hostess - where the event would be held, I'd decline it so fast her head would spin. As for the other 2 showers, you should not have been invited to these, and just keeping it real, this is the fault of your best friend. When multiple showers are held, SHE is the one responsible for providing the guest list, and she is the one who needs to make sure people aren't invited to more than one. That's because gifts are mandatory at a shower. In fact, it's considered rude to show up at one without a gift. So there's your answer. If you attend these showers, you do bring a gift. The obvious solution to that is decline both showers. Like they say, an invite is not a summons, and being MOH has nothing to do with this. As MOH, all you're technically agreeing to is buying your dress and showing up for the wedding. Anything after that is what you choose to do. PS - Also, on hair/makeup/nails, if the bride is requiring this, it's her job to pay for it. Again, dress and maybe shoes is all you're obligated for.

Just to let you know, they can be purchased at many party supply stores.
When we made one we used a medium sized cardboard box, two dowel rods, and an extra carboard box of the same size. It took cutting, hot gluing, taping, and patience, but it turned out nice.
cover everything with white fabric using a hot glue gun. cover all corners with frilly lace piping and small fake flowers. tape the dowel rods in place that will support the roof. The roof is made from the other cardboard box. a simple peaked roof would be the easiest, with the dowels ending in the inside corner of the peak with a ton of glue and tape,
I wish I could draw you a picture. It is hard to describe with only words.
I don't know how a laundry basket would actually look nice,
MY advice would be to ask your maid of honor (or a crafty cousin) to make one as a gift to you. I've seen really nice home-made ones presented as a gift for the Bride and Groom.
Another alternative is a brand new mailbox with your newly married names painted on the side, People put the cards in it, and it is something you can use forever!
I'm curious if you think that's a nice idea--it is different and rarely done...and certainly more personal and easier to make!

I don't know where you live, but I had a wishing well at my wedding and I got it from Party City. You may even find it at Michael's craft store or Wal-Mart. I only paid 10 or 15 dollars for it.

Craft stores like AC Moore and Rag Shop sell actual cardboard wishing wells that you then just have to decorate. And they are really cheap, like 8 bucks!
