My two kittens have the worst fleas ever. I'm constantly itching. They're constantly itching. And it's driving me crazy! I've used the stuff you apply on them that lasts a month. I've got the house spray. I bathed them before I put the stuff on them. Etc. Etc. Today I found about twenty fleas on my white one; gosh knows how many the dark one has! I don't know what to do! The home I got the white one from is flea ridden...so thats where they came from, but they won't go away! Someone please help!

The one thing about the dipping... I live nowhere near a pet store. An alternative?

Take them to your local PatSmart. They have a salon in pretty much allof their stores that can give them flea dips. Plus they can comb the fleas out for you. It's CHEAP! Then they can also sell you the products that they use. Trust me on this I just had the same problem, and I am the biggest supporter of PetSmart. (not Petco...they are animal abusers.) GOOD LUCK HON!

Get a laundry basket,
fill the tub with luke warm water.
Fill the tub to 3/4 the height of your cat.
Put in flea bath
(warning: dollar store sells flea bath called 'Fleasaway' it does NOTHING for fleas..)
Put kitty in the tub and cover her with the basket.
She will loudly voice her objections but keep her in there about 20 mintues.
The smart fleas will crawl to the place that isn't wet i.e. shoulders and head.
Get a lice comb or any comb that has close teeth.
Comb kitty from the top down and dip comb into the bath water after each swipe.
This will drop the fleas that have climbed to the top of her to avoid the water to be combed out and drown in the water with each dip.
You will be amazed how many dumb dead fleas are floating in the water when you are done with this.
Dry kitty well with a towel and apply Front Line according to package directions.
Vaccuum the house well!
We adopted an abandoned kitty. She was so thin and scraggly. Kids named her FRANK, and she was flea ridden!
This really helped us!
Good Luck!

BOMB YOUR HOUSE!!! I had an outbreak of fleas one time, and I got the flea bombs. They work! Use one can per room and follow the directions on the can.(Put a towel under the door to keep the fumes in the room)
As for the cats, use Advantage every month (the cheap stuff doesn't work) and that does the trick. The fleas are not just on the cats, they are IN THE CARPETING!! (Fleas can live up to 2 years dormant in the carpet)
IF YOU USE THE VACUUM GET RID OF THE BAG, THEY LIVE IN THERE TOO!!!

I've been where you are: When my husband and I brought our younger cats (then kittens) home, they were infested with fleas. When it comes to fleas, show no mercy!
Get your kittens dipped, then board them or confine them in a flea-free room while you treat the rest of the house. Get a powder that kills fleas and flea eggs, sprinkle it on your carpet and furniture, then vacuum. And vacuum again tomorrow, and every day until you get rid of all of them. And afterwards, in case there are still unhatched eggs. Arm and Hammer puts out a wonderful powder, or you can use Borax or powdered laundry detergent.
Also treat your yard and under your house, or have an exterminator do so.
That should end your flea problems. Good luck!

It takes a systematic approach, animals and environment to get rid of those b*******
FYI: Only about 10% of the flea population (mainly the adults) are on your pet. The flea eggs, larvae, pupa, and the few adults that reside in the carpeting, bedding, and living areas make up approximately 90% of the flea population. Neglecting this population of fleas will ensure that the flea problem will continue and worsen over time.
Don't dip your kittens - until you speak with your Vet first! Flea collars are a waste of time and some kittens/cats can have seizures from them.

Frontline has always worked for me, though if memory serves one should not use it on kittens.
One way to make those [unprintable] fleas flee is to mix nutritional yeast into your cats' food. Put garlic in your food to keep them off you. I tried this when my cat became a flea sanctuary, and it worked! Between the garlic, yeast and Frontline, in one month we were flea-free.
Look at the suggestions in the other answers as well - winning a war againsg fleas requires attacking the problem on multiple fronts.
