maybe he will grow, depends on genetics. But pull his joints will not help, merely annoy him. And i fail to see the link with him being short abd being permitted to go unpunished for stealing

He is only 16. Some children hit their growth spurts later than others. And some only grow to a certain extent. Pulling on his limbs will damage his joints especially in a growing person.
PLease stop doing this, because this will cause a deterioration of the protective coatings on his bones and joints. It could go so far as to cause bursitis which is an extermely painful swelling of the joints.
If your family is for the most part taller than he is, chances are he will grow in the next 2 to 3 years. However, if he is just genetically shorter, then he will probably not grow much more. It could also be a pituitary gland problem, in which case I'd take him into a doctor and ask to be tested.
A high calcium intake as well as good diet and excercise will strenghten his bones and most likely cause him to grow... but don't overdo the excercise as this may cause the opposite effect.
Also, if he doesn't grow, it's nothing to worry about. 5'2" is not bad and he should be proud of his body and not worry about such silly things. Tell him that no matter what, nothing that happens in high school ever matters, and that most likely noone really cares that he is shorter.
The hardest critic we all have is ourselves.

Don't pull the poor kids limbs, that wont help any. Some boys wont actually hit a growth spurt until there 18-20. Only reason I know this is when I met my husband he was maybe 5'5 and 18 yrs old. Well one day when he was maybe 2 months from his 20th birthday he sprouted to 6'1. How the this happened hell if I know. But just give it time. He may grow ater in life, if not then he will have to deal with being 5'2.

If his diet has been poor, it's probably too late.
If he has a growth hormone deficiency, it's probably too late since he's already going through puberty.
If all family members are also short, it's genetic.
Boys don't stop growing until about the age 20, so he's still got time to grow.
Stop pulling on his arms & legs. It won't help.
I think your greatest worry now is behavior, if he's stealing money from your purse. At least he confessed to it! Did he feel bad about doing it? If he did, that's a good sign.

A part of me is hoping this is a joke. I find this, kind of hard to believe but I will answer this as if it is true.) Your son doesn't like being 5'2" and you and the family are reinforcing the fact that being short is a bad thing by pulling on his limbs every night to make him grow. What you can do is reassure him he is fine the way he is. Most people find something about themselves they don't like very much but with some positive reinforcement you can teach your son to accept and love himself.

I was one of the shortest guys in my class until I was around 15. As a freshman in high school I was 5'0". At 18 I was about 5'10" and I stopped growing around 20 at 6'0". If he's taking money from your purse, beat him while he's still small enough for you to do so.

Aside from getting psychiatric help, you should examine the height of the rest of your family. Is your family tall? Is the child's father's family tall? If not, you will have a short kid. If everyone else is tall and your son isn't, either take him to the doctor or just wait it out. Some boys don't get their growth spurts until they are around 17 or 18.

The money part is funny! LOL!
But...seriously...if height ain't in the genes, all the pulling in the world won't make him taller.
Maybe...he should say some prayers and ask the Almighty to work a special miracle in his behalf!
It can be done!

My first question in " yahoo Answer " was the same as yours , is easy to say not to worry,he'll grow, don't look at outside appearance, that's no objection on the other answerer, but I believe I know your feeling more, but what else can we do after all .Sorry ,I don't know how to answer your question ,just wish our kids will grow taller in next few years.
Good luck to him and mine.

Some guys grow as late as college, so there may be some hope for him. You should probably stop pulling on him cos that isn't going to do anything good. Help him to accept his height how it is.
