Yes they are insane.
The reward for there behaviour will be to experience the same effect of the action they perform to teach the appropriate behaviour.
One clear analogy of these fundamental politically polluted so called religious groups is as follows:-
One day an old man divided his children into two groups with the task of massaging his body, one group was assigned the left side and the other the right, after some time a disagreement broke out between the two groups as to who was doing the better job, this disagreement turned into violence against the opposing side, both groups then starting beating the side of the body that the other group was responsible for, to prove their group was the best.
This is the position of fundamental groups who use religion as a political vehicle to promote their own agenda.
Pure religion/spirituality teaches love for God, tolerance/non violence/ compassion toward all living entities and global peace.

Absolutly, there is not, and never will be an excuse good enough to condone that sort of behavior. Mass murder usually of innocent civillians is humanity gone nuts. If some nut job wishes to blow himself to pieces then fair enough but do it alone and leave the rest of the human race alone. innocent peaple are killed every day by loonies like this and the clerics and such like that nurture this madness and brainwash these people into believing that there will some sort of after death reward for thier killings need a swift kick in the spuds!!!!

A lot of them have had horrible things happen to their families and are beyond the point of sanity. the guy who shot up the van in NY killing a young Hassidic Jew had witnessed the torture and murder of his family by Israelis. He was over the edge when he committed the murder. I believe a great number of suicide bombers are like him and have nothing to lose once the Israelis have destroyed everything that was theirs.
I am not condoning the murder of any innocent, but there is a much bigger issue than just these suiciders.

First off, tjreamer is correct, read that Sam Harris book and you'll understand far better what motivates suicide bombers and the like. Secondly, think about it this way: you're afraid of dying, right? What if someone tells you that death isn't really the end - that there is an afterlife - and not only that, but if you behave well in this realm, you'll be rewarded with 72 virgins in an eternal heaven? I mean, who wouldn't want to get on to the better stuff?
And can we say it's anymore ridiculous than Christians believing in utmost selflessness in order to reap their rewards in an eternal heaven?

We are all mentally ill if you look at how this world has evolved and the world that exists today and like sheep we plod on and don't speak up anymore.
BUT for their case they are committing suicide for a cause, normally to bring notice to what is happening to their people. Sad really because innocent people die but then there is a war going on between the consumer west and muslims and I guess that is how they fight. A bit like the CamaCarsi in WWW 2.

It is inculturation that has driven these beliefs into their young minds and makes a family of a suicide bomber so happy that their child has died for a "cause" that is worth dying for.
Madrasas have "schooled" these people from a young age to hate the Jews and America. Saudi Arabia pours millions of dollars, which a large quantity comes from the West, into these schools.
If you say that God or in their case "Allah" says it should be so, what do you expect from these young vulnerable minds?

They really believe that they will be rewarded for their actions and that it is the right thing to do. Religion plays a much bigger part in their lives than it does in ours. It is involved in every part of their lives. If one of us was born over there and had these beliefs preached to us since birth we would be suicide bombers too.

They are brainwashed from an early age and primed for the task. They are told that paradise awaits them on the other side....and they believe it.
