I have recently moved and my new neighbor works strange hours and is up when I am trying to sleep. The other night my apt was shaking from the loud music and then his washer spinning at 3 AM. Be creative. We already tried blasting him out with Phantom of the Opera music and other music like that.

oh--OK 1) Do something while they are asleep --like beating on their door or making their care alarm go off. 2) Hire someone to visit as a pretend prostitute or stripper when it is there bed time and say this is a treat for them--then when they get embarrassed have that person say--oops wrong place and tell them that they still need to pay--b/c you are not convinced that that your neighbor is telling the truth. 3) Tell your apartment manager about this. 4) Write them a letter that explains how they are being cruel to all the neighbors who don't want to hear that sht. Tell them that parents, etc. do not and will not put up with that. Tell them that if they want to hear loud music or have loud sex to visit a club or rent a room elsewhere.

It's best to try to negotiate a reasonable solution, this isn't always possible. Retaliation will never work, and will make the situation escalate into a war between neighbors. You can tell your neighbor that you work and need your sleep. Most people will respect your schedule if you explain your work hours. Or a letter, making your point without an interruption or arguement may have a better chance of getting results, and less likly to end in a dispute.

Turn up the volume of a really good/loud porno video when he/she is awake or even sleeping!

Also, blast some folk music from say Greece, Japan, Russia or something else and then leave your apartment. Why should you have to listen to it?

If you really want to be a pain, either notify your landlord or be a real jerk and call the police. But these I think would be last resorts. The other ideas would be more fun to try first.

We have the same problem with some of our neighbors.
My boyfriend works nights and sleeps days and our neighbors know this but ignore us when we ask them not to rev their motorcycles or cars or lawnmowers during the morning hours.
But if we go outside to even start the car in the winter to warm it up one of these same neighbors calls the police on us for disturbing the peace. Go figure.
Have you tried maybe playing BeeGee music like disco to drive your neighbor crazy, or maybe suggesting to him that the next time he feels like doing laundry at 3am maybe he would like to do yours as well? Just be careful and don't get a punch in the nose.

get a subwoofer!

Try a pro sub( something that runs at 1000watts@#8ohms)
crank it up, leave and go shopping. when you get back say that the timer was set wrong and turned on on acident,it won't happen again.(but it will)
Do not call the cops repeatedly, they will treat YOU as tthe Problem.
They are completely useless.

An alternative to my 1st suggestion, crank up your subwoofer, and then turn it down. Repeat till the offender complains. State your case. If he still offends, repeat turning up your sub for 5-10 minutes a streach until your neighbor gets the point.
Make him call and irritate the police. That way he will be the nuisance caller, not you.

Trust me ,the cops will thimk you are the cause not your neighbor. Make him the nuisance.

Get his phone number and call him and ask him to turn it down. If he doesn't, then call him during the day -- when you are up and he is trying to sleep, and ask him to kindly keep it down at night, and you'll do him the courtesy of not calling during his sleeping period.

Complain to your apartment manager.

If all else fails, see if you can find the outside circuit breaker -- and cut power to his apartment.

You can always report him to the police and say you don't want to leave a name but this person is disturbing the peace and they should keep an eye on him.

Don't retaliate...repeatedly call the cops on him for disturbance of the peace....they will get sick of coming out and eventually arrest him....he will get the message., but to make this work, you know you'll have to walk the straight and narrow yourself.

Place your loudspeakers to his wall .
Cover your ears.
Give maximum volume at the moment they sleep..
They will understand the message.

Confront them. If that doesn't work, call the cops.
