9 ‘These you may eat of all that are in the water: whatever in the water has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers—that you may eat. 10 But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that move in the water or any living thing which is in the water, they are an abomination to you. 11 They shall be an abomination to you; you shall not eat their flesh, but you shall regard their carcasses as an abomination. 12 Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales—that shall be an abomination to you.
Leviticus 11:9-12 (New King James Version)
Mainworry, one of the Christians on this website, once responded to one of my attacks on Leviticus 18:22, the one that says homosexuality is an abomination, with the following, which I would like to ask you the Christians on this website:
WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE WORD ABOMINATION

Mark 7:18 And he said to them, "Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, 19 since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?" (Thus he declared all foods clean.) 20 And he said, "What comes out of a person is what defiles him. 21 For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person."
Notice that God doesn't say eating shrimp is an abomination to Him. He says that the Jews should consider eating that type of food an abomination because they would be breaking His command.

Scripture you are looking for is the passage in Acts 15. This passage tells about how there were some teachers that were telling the new Christians that they had to be circumcised to be saved.
And so, a council came together to talk about it, and this is what they came up with...
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; 29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
So, there are still some restrictions, but not the same ones.
The real Q is why do so many Christians eat their steak rare?

My wife and I banter about this alot. She likes shrimp, but I'm not so sure it has scales . . . and are those really fins at the tail end?
It's high in cholesteral, so I don't eat it. My wife eats it, so sue me.
According to Jesus, "There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man." Mark 7:15 KJV
God loves us and I'm sure he sorrows for us when we do things that cause ourselves suffering or pain.
I try to stay kosher because I've got Jewish blood on both sides of my family and I believe that for me it's probably healthy.
The Japanese eat lots of pork, shellfish and other "unclean" meats, and they have the longest life-spans in the world.
I think the dietary laws in the Bible are just for Jews living in the land of promise.

Well now it is said many places that it matters not what enters your body that matters at all. It says in Mark 7: 18-23 that nothing you eat can defile you it is what comes out of you that defiles you. Also in Acts 10 when God spoke to Peter telling him not to call something unclean if he has made it clean. Then Paul speaks of it too in Romans 14 saying that he will eat anything except if it causes another believer to fall. Basically you can eat anything. This is of very little importance to us. What is important is making sure we are clean by cleaning up what comes out of us like the way we speak and treat one another. As well as respecting others especially those who are weak in faith as Paul spoke of. I hope i helped you. May the Lord be with you.

Please note the difference in language between Lev 18:22 and Lev 11:9-12. God says that homosexual sex IS an abomination, whereas the Israelites are to REGARD shrimp to be an abomination. So, shrimp isn't really abominable, but God wanted the Israelites to regard it abominable, whereas homosexual sex actually is abominable.

What does God call it? Preach love too you? Lets see what God says, to do with you.
You have unbeliever's. Chaff, Scoffers.
An Atheist is a scoffer. The WORD of God, clearly tells you the filhty rags they are, and to stay away from them, and avoid them. We are NOT to plant seeds. God knows it is useless and that is why he tells us, "You stand firm against them" ( Jer.17:8 14:1 Iah 44:4) You disassociate them completely. Any Believer that does not abide in God's own Word, does not know God, according too God Himself. Atheists are "chaff" A simile of the wretchedness of the wicked. Chaff is carried away by the lightest wind, and it's removal brings about cleansing by extracting what is utterly useless. (Ruth 1:22). They will NOT stand in the judgment. They will NOT be able to withstand God's wrath when He judges.( Paslams 76:7 Exra 9:15). This is not my opinion, this is God's very own Words, in the Bible. You know, the BIble? The same Bible atheist scholars quote. There is a reason God, said this. Psalms.1.1-3 Jer. 17:8 14:1 12. 1-2 18:9-10 Prov1.10-19 (vs 5) scoffers:(atheists) those who ridicule God and definatley reject His Law. Prov 1.:22 Ruth 1:22 Jer 18:7 (pull down-destroy) 1:10 (evil-calamity) 18:11
Pslams 1:
godly wisdom here, declare the final outcome of the two "ways". The paths of "sinners" (unbelievers) and the "way of the righteous. he speaks progressively of assoociation with the ungodly and participation in they're ungodly ways.
God said it. End of Story. Jesus Himself said "Let the dead bury they're dead".
Use all the Internet and Dictionaries they want to and call themselves anything they wish. God "defined" what they are by His own words.
They can hang a dog tag* around they're neck in the pits if hell itself and separate each other by name categorically.
God's Word said it. By God's definition. There is NO opinion.
Hate? Where do you get hate? If God's TRUTH is hate too you, then, so be it. You and God, can and will discuss the means of your sciptural interpretation, consisting with a man-made defacto on a motion of plea bargin I guess. I dunno.

Mark 7:15-19 "There is nothing from without a man that entering into him can defile him, but the things that come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
If any man have ears to hear let him hear.
and when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not percieve that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it can not defile him;
Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught purging all meats?"

The 'avoidance of 'shrimp' was connected to the fact that they were unclean. However, in Acts 10:14 God told Peter nothing he(God) made was unclean.
