No, Jesus was a Jew! Christianity is just a religion or religious practice! Christianity did not come into existence for centuries after Jesus Christ had died on the cross and resurrected! Christianity is a thoroughly human concept - they say it has to do with Jesus Christ - but if you understand the meaning of the word religion, faith, belief - you would and could come to the understanding that Jesus Christ did not create Christianity! Jews are not Christians! Jews do not see Jesus Christ as the Messiah!
Jesus Christ was a Jew and practiced Judaism in His life! He was the coming Messiah and His own people the Jews did not accept Him or believe Him! Jews practicing Judaism today still do not believe!

St. Paul DID NOT start Christianity, this is another mistranslation and erroneous belief started by the Catholic Church and then passed on to Christendom at large.

Christ was a Jew and Jewish up to his baptism, then he became a spiritual leader to the "spiritual israelites" or "spiritual jews" those who would replace the regular jews as Abrahams descendants when he died. On Pentecost Day after his death (see the Book of Acts) when the Holy Spirit was passed out, Gentiles were brought into the Christian fold and thus ALL MANKIND could be followers of Christ. Christianity was NOW BORN. Christians were the "Spiritual descendants" of Abraham and "numbered among the stars."

Jesus is God's first creation, as an angel.
All other things/beings were created by God, through him.
Jesus was born on earth into the Jewish nation of Israel.
Both of his human parents were in the line of King David.
Jesus both was & still is the very first one of Jehovah's witnesses.

" ... ye are my witnesses, saith Jehovah, and I am God."
Isaiah 43:10-12 http://www.ebible.org/bible/ASV/Isaiah.htm

He didn't become mankind's savior until he gave his life to prove that a perfect human could & would remain faithful to his God & Father Jehovah, & bought life back for mankind. Now he is King of Jehovah's Heavenly Kingdom, which will shortly begin it's reign over the earth. To learn more, the following article has been provided on-line:

No, He was a Jew. A Christian is a follower of Christ. The Jews were his first priority. Isreal is Gods special people. He came first to find the lost sheep of Isreal. Jesus, before he left to heaven, told the apostles and disciples to give the good news to the entire world (Acts 1:8) that they too can recieve salvation. So for the Jew first and then the gentiles we can be called the children of God. This is a fulfillment of the prophesies.

Christ is Christianity----Without Christ, there would be no Christianity. Christianity is not a religion. Christianity is a faith, a lifestyle----You either ARE a Christian by the indwelling of the living, functioning Holy Spirit, or you ARE NOT. Jesus Christ, Also the Angel of God, Also one of the Angels that helped destroy Sodom, and also one of the three of the Triune God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a Virgin---who was of the Chosen People of God, Israel.

A Religion is a practice, a script, a corporate mandate. Being Religious has nothing to do with being faithful or spirit filled.

Jesus was a Jewish man, a devout Jewish man, he tried to teach that if you weren't going to follow the law because it was right you should not be involved in making the sacrifices required to practice the faith. In other words if you were just in it for looks you would be better off out of it.

somehow, that got turned around to it's okay to ignore the laws of the religion and so the lazy Jewish people followed what they thought they heard Jesus say, and the devout Jews stayed with their faith, and the politicians and the rabbis kept on being corrupt.

so the world was blessed with a whole new bunch of crazy folks dying to prove they are right and every one else is wrong.

What a load of dung the whole thing is.

He didn't have a religion. Why would God need a religion? Only lost souls have religion to help explain all the mysteries. He followed the laws of the Jews and was a Jew. A Jew is a descendant of the Hebrew people.

Jesus Christ was the author of Christianity. He was born into the Jewish Faith which is not too different from Christianity except for obvious differences which we know about. Jesus came to enrich the ways and lifestyles of the jews and some of them refused to follow his advice and hence they rejected him. He went to different town to preach the gospel because his own hometown was not hospitable to his cause, that being, acting as Mediator between God and humankind. Jesus tackled religion from a different angle than was the convention at the time, he dined with tax collectors, healed prostitutes and gave them a chance at penitence and a renewed way of life, he overturned the marketing going on in the temples and spoke out against people who did what was right in their own eyes. He healed people on the Sabbath and was condemned because according to the old Testament one was not to do any work on a Sunday. Jesus then pointed out certain forms of logic such as that it was better to heal someone and thus fulfil a more important commandment (love thy neighbour as thyself) than to leave the man in his state because he had to rest. In so doing he suggested that to do nothing was a form of neglect (within that context). In the Old Testament which coincides with the Torah (i speak under correction...) God is portrayed as austere, rigid and almost unforgiving. The relationship we have with God is set to be restored through Christ who is really God incarnated. That means that God came down in human form to spice up our relationship with Him so that he could awaken our hearts to His Divine Love and grant us answers through prayer, so that we wouldnt need to really come on yahoo answers and questions to ask silly things such as...was Jesus actually a Christian. *wink* hope this helps, take care, Whizzdom.
ps...many artists became famous in the grave only, did it make a difference to the value of their art that they were dead and poor, focus on what's important, and try to make a positive difference so that we as humankind are that much closer to finding and living in peace and harmony.

Jesus was a Jewish doomsday prophet predicting the imminent end of the world. He had no intention to start a long-term religion because he believed that the final judgement was coming befoere "this generation comes to pass".

St Paul was the one who started Christianity.
