I am a female. I dress like one and I act ladylike as I believe. I do not feel that I am oppressed by this, neither do I try to mandate that all women should live as such. To each their own. What I am saying is that I am not alone and many other women of different beliefs feel the same way and do not wish to be "liberated." Women have always been more than equal as far as I am concerned. {Just ask my husband, I tend to get respect and dignity, he likes to eat.}

The little comment about my husband liking to eat means that we women have always had our influence. If I don't cook he tends to eat sandwhiches so he tries to keep me happy."If mama ain't happy ain't nobody happy"

Of course. I do myself. It's just being forced to conform to that image that women don't like. You want the choice to be as feminine or tom-boy as you like.
*Dorie, he likes to eat food that hasn't been burned beyond all recognition. Which is exactly what he'll get if he doesn't give Debra M the respect and dignity she deserves.

Being ladylike has nothing to do with oppression. Women are different from men in the way that they have less potential for physical superiority, plus different hormones make us potentially more emotional. The more you develop that potential the more ladylike you are. Operation is men taking advantage of their physical superiority to force you to do what you don't want, make your intelligence and skill seem nonexistent.Regrettably it's still very popular in the world. Women in societies where oppression is practiced have to forsake their femininity side as the only way to be seen as equals. But being femininity is kind of an insurance policy. Feminism can very easily be used against women, by making them do everything with the excuse that they have to prove as equals.
And no, women have not always been equal with men and in some countries are still far from it.

That's been the usual bargain between the sexes, until feminism spoiled everything by trying to turn women into imitation men. Women get love, sex and respect; men get love, sex, and their choice of either respect or dinner. Some women will toss in the other option just to be gracious.
And men will go for the feminine women, first and foremost, when considering a permanent relationship. She leg-shining hos will get laid and left. But a lady will keep her man.

I agree.
The only problem is that some women are not treated well, no matter whether they act ladylike or not. Some men are just GD bullies, who have proven that women sometimes have to be strong and independent, or they get stepped on like a bug.
You and I don't have that problem. We are lucky.
But, at least understand that we have to appreciate the struggle for women's rights that our mothers, grandmother, and great-grandmothers went through.
And, for some women, that struggle is sadly still going on.

Yes I would believe that. Each of us is an individual and each likes something different. Just as you have your likes I like being at the opposite end of the spectrum in work boots, climbing on the sides of chemical plating tanks and handling dangerous chemicals. We are each right because when it comes to personal preference there is no wrong or right.

I LOVE being feminine and dressing and acting feminine. Unfortunately I have a partner who flatly refuses to see me as feminine unless we have an argument when he gets to blame me for being hormonal illogical and irrational. He prefers to see me as a bloke with breasts who should learn how to weld etc. He just WILL NOT see me as a woman and that is what will eventually end the relationship.
Nice question by the way.

{Just ask my husband, I tend to get respect and dignity, he likes to eat.}
What does he like to eat? and what does that have to do with describing femininity as you do?

dressing the way you want is your choice. I think the problem lies when you aren't allowed to dress how you want, or do what you want .
