It seems like people think is is some act of the devil. I see it as like minds, focused intent, and self-determination and believing in yourself. Am I seeing this wrong? I have never tried it but am trying to understand it. Open minded guy here.

You seem to understand it quite well, my friend. Wiccans do not recognize the devil or satan as a deity, we do not worship him, we in fact have nothing to do with him. People who continue to judge witches in this way are only basing their beliefs about us on what they hear and see in the media, 99% of which is nothing but pure fiction. The practice of wicca is a very spiritual process of personal growth, connection of self to the elements, the earth around us, and the deities as well as those who have gone before us. Magick is not the "devil's work," it is simply the process of connecting with, channeling and manipulating the energies that naturally occur within everything - physical and etheral. We are all made of energy, it's what holds every little atom and molecule in our bodies together, as is everything else around us. It is not a selfish path as some would have you believe either. It isn't all "me me me," it's about respecting, caring for, and the giving of our own energies into the environment and those around us in order to better, heal and prolong life, not just in ourselves, but in nature and humanity as a whole.

Hope this has helped shed new light on the path, and helped to untie some of the lies you have heard about us through people of other religions spouting off about us on these boards.

The only people who call it evil are the ones too narrow minded to even learn about it.I've been Wiccan for 15 years and counting, and am perfectly happy on my path.We don't even believe in the 'Devil'.It's just some b.s. the Church made up back in the day as an excuse to persecute people.Did you know that most of those who were burned and tortured as "witches" were actually healers and midwifes?Sad, but true. The Witches Rede is similar to the Golden Rule.'An' it harm none, do as thou will'.There are a lot of different traditions in Wicca and Paganism, just as there are lots of different branches of Christianity.Contact me through my profile if you'd like.I have no probs educating a person who can approach a subject with an open mind.

It is completely spiritual.

#1 Wiccans do not believe in god or the devil, so they do not worship the devil.

#2 They practice the rule of three.

#3 Christians burned these people at the stake, but they love them? This befuddles me.

#4 Wicca/Paganism is far older then christianity, islam, and judaism.

I think it depends on the viewpoint of the practitioner.

I believe that Witchcraft is a practice, like meditation or prayer that can be applied to many religions belief systems. I see witchcraft as weaving spells to acheieve goals using focused intent and energy manipulation. Sometimes its spiritual, sometimes its not. Sometimes you connect with deity in a fascinating way... sometimes not. It depends on how the practitioner weaves her spells.

Its not the same as Wicca or Paganism. Those are spiritual systems of beliefs. Very spiritual- most of them focus on connection and communion with deity and inner harmony and balance in the conflicted world we live in. :)

Thats just my viewpoint!

Oh, you're correct. Witchcraft has nothing to do with Satan, which is always wonderful. It's just that people are not open to it.

I suggest you read two books:
Science of the Craft
What the BLEEP do we know!?

Witchcraft ends up being the journey to the self, so of course it is spiritual.

I think everyone else has pretty much said what was on my mind. But I will say it is refreshing to hear a genuine question about our spirituality instead of the bashing it normally gets.

Goddess bless you!

It is spiritual to Witches. It comes from the ancient Wicca traditions. Whether it is evil; Christians have a nack of saying that everything which doesn't conform to their world view is evil. Whether it actually is or not is for you to decide.

anything can be called spiritual, anything can be worshipped.........witchcraft is an evil practice and if you believe in God and heaven and hell, I suggest you find out who can enter heaven.....no one who practices witchcraft can enter. This magic does not come from God and since there is no other gods it comes from satan.
