What I'm personally thinking about is abuse from government departments, and abusive neighbours.

Absolutely stingmyflesh. Something uncanny is that youngsters often dress in vagrant-gear.

I don't have an answer myself. I suppose that authority should demonstrate superiority, otherwise it should have no right over people.
Are women are allowed to kill/mame husbands they CLAIM have abused them?

the trouble is the system will keep letting you down and the moment you do something the will come down on you like a grand piano from the 15th floor because you will be the easy target.

If we take the law into our own hands we are no better than the people who committed the crime. We should let due process take place even though we know in some circumstances the punishment does not fit the crime. The judicial system can only implement the sentences that the government lays down. It's the government that is as fault, they are the law makers, and we in turn elect the government, it's called democracy, and mob rule has no place in a democratic society.

The system is already letting us down. Laws are changed to make it easier to convict within narrower channels. Hence, crimes that would previously been awarded 10 - 15 years are reduced to much shorter periods, giving the impression to the victims that the system doesn't care. You only have to watch the news or read a newspaper to tell that we don't seem to be able to meter out punishment in the way we used to. It may have something to do with being a modern society and with human rights but this country is heading for internal conflict on a scale not previously seen before if we don't get ourselves back on track.......

That's an interesting question. Although its been a while, the last few times I had to call the police they were accusing and not helpful at all. As I have mentioned in my other answers, there is a lot of gang activity in my town. My two teenagers were sitting outside when they were attacked by a car full of guys who were trying to hit them with full bottles of beer. They busted about a case of it all over my parking lot and took off. When the police got here they wanted to know what we did to provoke them, what gang my kids belonged to(none), and if we'd been drinking. They were even trying to look through my windows, and suggested we were lying. Another time my husband was attacked by some neighbors while he was driving for a pizza place, and when he drove home to get help they followed him and continued the attack in front of my kids. When the police came they refused to arrest these people even though we told them where they were. We were told to take them to court. The major attacker did not even show up for court, but sent a note saying she(yes she,but have you ever tried to defend yourself against a 350lb psychotic black woman?) was sick. Nothing was ever done about it. Still, what should we have done? We can't just shoot people in the street or we'd go to jail for sure.

We should by-pass the judicial system,& form our own local defence groups.Just take the b****rds out & using what-ever necessary, make them see the error of their ways.
For fivetoze:I'm glad you've reformed, good for you.My point is this:Decent people can be victims,or, they can be pro-active in defending themselves.I think you would be surprised just how 'up to it' people can be when they lose faith in the judicial system.I don't think the cops would be too bothered when they see a big drop in the crime rate.I'm not concerned about bank robbers,it's just a case of thieves stealing from other thieves,i'm talking about muggers, burglers,anti-social scum. These are people we know,we know where they live, where they hang-out,it would be very easy to give them a good 'talking' to.If they came back at us,then the 'talk' would have to be a little more serious.

ah good old england... this is the way it works. we, the people decided that instead of looking after our own safety we should abdicate teh responsibility, for our protection and safety, to the police force. (wherever we live) and by an large they do what they get paid to do.

ok so they dont respond to many of the crimes they used to, but, thankfully we have forensics and dna. hte ability of any force to respond proactively is hampered by the perception that we live in a police state. (we don't) so they investigate and solve crime. you have more chance of being a lottery winner than you have of getting caught "doing" the businness.

by thereby hangs the dilemma. (im a convicted armed robber) at the moment, guns in the UK are thankfully rare, and what youre suggesting is everyone arms themselves, and becomes no better than they guy they kill to defend their own property, which is fine in principle, and englishmans home is his castle. but, criminal johnny knows youve got a gun...and so has he... and ill bet criminal johnny has a bigger gun than you do, and he'd use it. only, youre terrified, and hes working. who do you think is going to come off worse 9 times out of 10?

taking the law into your own hands is a knee jerk reaction to a social problem. all that will ever do is make things far worse. you want a response, use a video camera. you need proof, or the cop will treat you with contempt, and dismiss you, or wrongly arrest you.

and just because smashed out of his face johnny trashes your car, and you give the little **** the smack he deserves, youll get nicked, arrested fingerprinted and get a criminal record... for what? five seconds of revenge... dont do it. youre insured, phone the cops, show them the proof and leave it upto them.

in all honesty, 99% of you arent upto the job, hte other 1% know better... and stay well out of it. yes i know the cops are lazy, useless and sat on therir fat arses hassling innocent motorists... but its either them, or glock n load.

a man comes into my house, ive got 4 dogs. if its out in the street, it stays there. il pick up a phone, but theres some mad buggers out there, i know i was one once, but now im almost 50, and along the path, ive think ive seen a few things, and learned a lot. let the police do their job. they get paid to get shot at, you dont. theyve been trained and equipped...watching a rambo movie isnt training! and god forbid, when some masked MF points a gun at you, do as he asks, nothing is worth dying for. property is just that, and its insured. oh and all you gung ho wannabes... wait until its dark and someone looses off a round at you... your world stops. all you see is the muzzle flash, which lights up the room, folowed by the loudest bang youve ever heard in a confined space...anf youll freeze, scared witless, like a rabbit in headlights of a speeding car.

so, in answer to your question, id have to say teh whole fabric of society has to have collapsed..and were all up **** creek anyway, before id take the law into my own hands, because once you step over the line, theres no going back, ever. and the real question is of course, i can take the law into my own hands, but can i deal with the consequences of my actions...

be good. stay safe LL&P

Everybody should carry a weapon. The only way the law would be effective is if the police stopped a crime before it happened, which is impossible. The only thing the police are good for is to investigate a crime AFTER it happens, which doesn't do you any good! FRONTIER LAW would do it !!!!!
