Yes you are right. What a person earns is no ones business and if thats all they have to talk about them their shallowness runs deep. When I hear someone talk about money I turn my back on them and walk away because most people will lie when they tell you how much they earn so whats the point in listening to their bullshit.

Because they are insecure and try to use money (and yes, material things) to be "better" than everyone. In their eyes, money and objects make up for the fact that they hate their job/life/spouse etc. Me? I'd rather take less $$$ on a job if it meant that I was doing something I liked, as well as liking my life and all that is in it.

Most of them will be lying about their income.
- And besides it's a marathon not a sprint. I earn far more than a lot of my friends. They all earned more than me 5 - 8 years ago.
Pretty sure I also owe more than most of them!

That is what they are doing, competing with one another. Times like that should be spent catching up on your lifes . If your measured by length then it is best to be small and happy. Pem

Its because they feel that what they earn is a measurement of their success. I always tell people how many women I've slept with.

They are proud of what they have achieved, and it probably comes off as gloating. They just want people to know they are successful; just let 'em keep making fools of themselevs.

Seems like you've got it covered! Or maybe its just they have no clue where to start off so they might as well impress (or think they are impressing)
