i have 2 pekingese dog's, which have skin problems, itching, tried every shampoo out there, any help?

they say watch what you feed them, anything with wheat is bad. what is the best food?

if feeding them wheat is bad, why would i bath them in wheat, how dumb is that

You don't say if this just started or this is a year around problem. Also, if your dog is losing hair in patches that are spreading, see your vet as it may be mange & 1 type is contagious to people.

I have seen great improvement in allergic dogs fed Solid Gold dog food. It has really done the trick for several of them.

This time of year is an allergy free for all. So, allergies are a possibility. Your dogs could be allergic to grass, food, air fresheners, laundry detergent, pollen or just about anything. The biggest cause of allergic reactions in dogs is fleabites. They can scratch for weeks from a bite.

I would change food and give each dog 2mg of Benadryl per pound of dog. Give once or twice per day. The children's liquid is helpful for every small dogs.

If you are not already using a topical flea treatment like Advantage or Frontline, do so immediately. Getting rid of the flea bites helps tremendously. And people that say that their dogs don't have fleas are kidding themselves. If you are not using one of these products..... you have fleas.

As to the shampoo, due to all the scratching & chewing, you most probably have a staph infection here also. So, I would wash these dogs once per week in a chlorhexidine shampoo. Follow directions. Rinse very, very well and follow with a moisturizing hypo allergic conditioner. You can walk into most vets offices and purchase this type of shampoo. I like Malaseb which also contains miconizole nitrate for fungus.

Vets are quick to prescribe cortisone for allergic dogs. And in some cases it can be helpful (allergic to flea bites) but a dog can't stay on cortisone forever. Cortisone depresses the immune system and also raises blood pressure.

Dog dermatology is a HUGE business. And you can spend thousands of dollars attempting to cure these dogs. Several of my clients have gone the allergy testing route. I can't truthfully say that these "tested" dogs fair any better than those that aren't.

My dog has bad allergies. I can only bath him with shampoo that is oatmeal based. PetMarts has alot of shampoo to choose from that are good for your dog. Also seeing a vet could help. My dog had to also be put on a dose of steroid medicine at first. Hope this helps.

It is probably allergies, which unfortunately are very hard to deal with. You will have to get allergy testing, or if you can't afford that try putting her on a hypoallergenic diet (Z/D by Hills is good). You will have to try it for 6 months before you see any improvement. If allergies persist, it might be a contact allergy (something that touches their skin) like cotton. I would suggest taking them to the vet and seeing what he thinks; allergy testing is definitely a good idea, though.

My lab has food allergies, she is on a restricted diet, of duck and potato dog food. She has been on the diet for 4 months and the itching has completely stopped, but the food is very expensive.
