You may mean how "poorly regulated". Look up any statistic source for the number of illegal aliens currently in the U.S. Our country should better regulate its borders North and South.

YARS!!!!!! Where are you with all your links????!!
One reason immigration is SUPPOSED to be regulated is, 1 we can not just let anyone and everyone come here, that wants to!!! 2.Take the ILLEGAL alien situation we are in. ILLEGALS (those SNEAKING into our country) are NOT checked for communicable diseases (and they carry many), there are NO background checks to see if they are rapists, murderers, child molester, etc, etc!! 3. ALSO, we have a LIMIT as to how many poor, uneducated people come here. We HAVE TO!!! Otherwise, we wouild have all these poverty level people coming here and draining our resources. And, this is EXACTLY the problem with ILLEGALS!!! They are poorly educated people who do not make a contribution to our society. (I'm not saying this to be mean, it's just a fact of life.) But, these kind of people do not make much money, so rely on our welfare system. This takes AWAY from our own people, who are ENTITLED to these benefits!!! There was a story in the paper this week, about an ILLEGAL family here in this country. The dad didn't make all that much, and they had several kids already. Well, since they didn't make much, they were given an extra $700.00 a month of federal assistance (which equals TAXPAYER money!!!) even though they are in the country ILLEGALLY!!! This is NOT FAIR to legal American citizens!!

Legal immigration may be closely regulated, but they turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to illegal immigration. It's just my opinion, but I think the only immigrants our government wants is the type our corporations can exploit. They don't want decent self sufficient people coming here taking money and opportunities away from our rich.

It isn't... way too many illegal immigrants. I think they need to better regulated. Immigrants in the United States get better health care than those of us who pay taxes... and theirs is free. Go into any local hospital, most of the emergency rooms are filled with non-english speaking people who are getting free health care, on my tax dollar, and I cannot get that kind of care because I do not have health insurance, but I am paying for someone else to. It used to be that people wanted to come to the united states because of what it stood for, free country, well it is only free to the immigrants. I am all for people moving here from other countries, I would live no where else, but, I don't think I (single parent, one income) should have to pay for them to get more benefits than what I earn from working so hard. It is probably the illegal immigrants that have caused your struggle. They cannot speak english, yet their name is Joe Smith, or Sue Johnson.. hahaha

Not opinion, but fact: every country on earth has immigration laws. And every country's laws are different; the US's are no more strict or liberal than anyone else's. Here is the Immigration and Nationality Act. Feel free to compare it to immigration laws of any other country you choose.

Because of the high number of peole that want to come here. The country cannot support every person that came here if we let them all in.
Look at any immigration website from the govt.

Because it is everywhere else too. You have to have a passport to visit other countries or a visa to stay longer than 90 days. So, why should America's laws be any different. We can't hand out free tickets to everyone. We have enough dept as it is without that.
Email me if you want and tell me what you think about my answer. Please enlighten me. Thanks.

It isn't, sadly. But it should be. This is a sovreign nation and it should have strong borders. We must keep the nation safe from intruders who would hurt, kill or spend OUR tax dollars on themselves.
