We recently brought our beloved cat to the humaine shelter because he peed everywhere in sight. This wasn't my desicion, it was my dads. Is there any other way this could have been solved?

I'm sorry to hear about your cat, Ryan.

The others have brought up good points: Was the cat neuterred? What about the litter box: Was it kept clean? Did the cat have a urinary tract infection? Peeing outside the normal areas is often the first sign us humans see that something is wrong.

Now, I used to have a male cat who did in fact get an infection- and after he was well again, he kept peeing on the bed. Until I started covering it with plastic. Then he went back to his box.

Yes, it should have been seen by a vet to rule out the reason for this cat doing this. I bet that cat had a urinary or bladder infection is the reason, simple antibiotics would have taken care of this problem, if the cat had an infection. Some cats don't like scented cat litter either.

Male cats can have urinary problems and they can have issues if they are not "altered" early enough in life. If the cat has crystals in his urine (painful) he could have felt pain when peeing in the catbox and thought it was the catbox hurting him. It may not have been easily solved because once a cat pees in a spot it is sort of marked as a good spot to pee.

Was he peeing or spraying and marking his territory? Male cats have a tendancy to mark what they consider their property...having it neutered would have stopped this or at least greatly reduced it.

Neutering or Spaying and if you have cats in the neigborhood in heat he may have been marking.
