Do you think this is alot of money for a gift?
ive been with my boyfriend for almost 9 months it will be 1 year in November. We have had some issues in the past few months, but were trying to work threw them, anyways. For christmas also his birthday right after ,he keeps hinting about a Michael Jordan basketball card (autograph) i believe the card ranges from $400-600
Im 19 years old hes 24, i make about $200 a week.
I dont feel comfterable buying a $400 ****** card, but thats what he always wanted.
Have you ever spent that much on your gf or bf for a gift?

he doesnt exspect me to get it but thought it would be nice of me.

Whatever you do, don't get it for him. That is reallllllllllllllly expensive! For an autograph card! There are millions of useful and helpful things to spend $400 on, for example, any amount of money donated in his name would be kind, and a considerate gift. That is extremely inconsiderate of him to want(or almost expect) something so expensive of you when you can't afford it! Two week's wages is a sacrifice that you will feel, and suffer from, especially when you don't see what's so great about the autograph. I suggest you donate some money (No more than $75, less is fine) to a charity sponsored by Michael Jordan. If he doesn't appreciate that, then he has a huge problem with selfishness, and/or lack of realism.

A gift should never have a price tag - - - you should be free to give your boyfriend whatever you sincerely want and he should be mature enough to be happy with whatever you give him. If you do spend money for a collectible item, and yes this sounds rude, it should be certified in your name with him a recipient with a clear clause that if the situation changes in less than a year it reverts back to YOU. The world is full of people who enter into relationships for gifts and who go after they have received. And yes they are good at making it seem as if it is your fault. Personally I would suggest a nice HALLMARK card and a wet kiss.

For only dating under a year I think that is a lot of money. I would hold off and get him the card later. Maybe next christmas or for his birthday next year. And I've never spent that much on someone. The most that I've spent is about $100.

If the shoe was on the other foot, would you ask for something you wanted irregardless to the price? If you started saving now a little a week you could get the card easy.

by the way...What are you asking for?
hint.. hint,
a diamond bracelet..friendship ring..earrings..girl, you didn't hear it from me but...I would match the gift price for my own or close to it, that way you're not loosing much..listen to me! I'm sorry it's the thought that counts. besides it would also be nice of him.

He may really want it, but if you can't afford it he should understand. However, do you expect jewelry or another gift that is that much? If you do, then maybe he should think that the card is reasonable. Who knows-- maybe if you look around on eBay you can get it for cheap. Especially if you start saving $10 a week until Christmas/Hanuka.
