I would say a combination of three and six. Russia was in terrible shape and still is (very corrupt). I hope you do not support Bin Laden he killed alot of innocent people in the US. You may hate our government, but the average American citizen is a caring individual and is concerned about what is going on around the world. We want peace like most other nations.

When Russia invaded Afghanistan, the United States Marines and the Army Rangers were the first to be on the dirt. Also, the United States---absolutely---trained, armed, and supplied all of the freedom fighters.

Now that the United States is, once again, fighting in Afghanistan against Osama Bin Laden and the Al Queda, in some instances, United States, Russian, and Iranian weapons are firing at us.

Gorbachev is not a CIA Agent. He drinks too much to be an agent for any country.

Actually, I wish The United States would stop funding the world's military forces, training their soldiers, educating their leaders, economists, scientists and doctors.

In fact, I believe that no one should be allowed to attend a United States college or university without, first, being a United States citizen. Those who receive their citizenship from other countries, would have to be a citizen for 10 years before they could go to a United States University or College. That way, we would stop educating the world to fight against us.

Black Knight's answer develop into notably sturdy, yet I merely wanted to characteristic some issues. the U.S. were given in contact with Afghanistan as a outcome of the Russian choose to have pleasant countries on their borders. it is also a outcome of the major Russian weak spot of no longer having a warmth-water port and their push to get one. Afghanistan develop into to be a stepping stone for that through the undeniable fact that is a land-locked united states of america. i do not recognize why human beings say the Taliban did not exist until eventually after the Soviets left. lots of an identical those that fought the Soviets are an identical human beings the U. S. is combating in Afghanistan at present. they could have not been said as "Taliban", even if it is an identical human beings.

Uh, 6 - - - The USSR defeated the USSR - - - their own ineptness, the fact their country was falling apart internally, conflicting goals among the ruling class led to the morass in Iraq, er ah Afghanistan. When countries fail to successfully push War to a successful conclusion they are at fault. A lack of clear planning and goals leads to failure. The USSR was never quite sure what it was doing in Afghanistan.

I would say number 3 (Jihadees) played the biggest role. They were the ones actually fighting, the ones the defend and take land. The Mujhadeen may or may not have won on their own, but without them the Soviets would never have been defeated in Afghanistan.

# 3. The same ones who are going to defeat the U.S. in Afghanistan.

To quote Kipling:

"When wounded and left on Afghanistan's plain,

And the women come out to cut up your remains,

Just roll on your rifle and blow out your brains,

And go to your God like a soldier."
