Pull the tail off and put it to the side, I do eat the little piece that never seems to come out of the tail but cracking it open with my fork.

I have never eaten the tail, I believe the proper way to eat it is to leave the tail on your plate.

I usually pull the tail off. I like the texture of the shrimp meat itself, but the tails don't usually taste very good, although they are edible. Whatever floats your boat, though! :)

Honestly it depends on your culture. I usaully don't eat the tail, but some cultures do.
