Um, I don't see a big difference between a Chihuahua and a rat. Get a dog that's at least big enough to scare off intruders.

The first question you have to ask yourself is if you have the time to spend building a relationship with a dog, they need love too. Then Check your climate and space, obviousely smaller dogs need less space, but they still need the outdoors for exercise. Is your yard large enough? Or do you have access to a park? Climate wise, small dogs have more trouble in colder weather especially a chihuaua, during colder months it will need extra attention and a doggy sweater, also you cannot leave it outside alone during cold months. Also do you live near woods where coyotes, or even wolves may live. Are there cats in the area. These animals can seriously harm or even kill a small dog. There are many things to take into consideration. If you cant make that kind of committment, get a cat.

Of course you should if you can afford to take care of it properly. A dog will bring joy and fun to your life. I think you should get two. Especially if you are going to have to leave them home alone for any length of time. Dogs are very sociable and waiting for their human to come home from work can be very lonely. A lot of behaviour problems can be avoided in advance by providing the dog with companionship.

A dog is at least a 10 year commitment. It's like having a baby. If you're not sure, then don't. If you do get one, be prepared to take care of it.

Most Chihuauas are very highstrung and emotional needy but don't really like to play with you that much.

girl please. i dont know wut state u are in. But my 18yr. old daughter asked me 2wks ago to keep her 6mo. old chihuawa until november. I agreed to but then i find out frm my 15yr.old daughter that Brandi (19) never had any intention of getting Princeton back. So wut im going to have to do is find him a home. I have a 110lb female German rottweiler as well. I breed her. Princeton is only 4lbs and looks identical to the "QUIERO TACO BELL" dog in commercial. E-mail me at gotboy10gotboys@yahoo.com if u are interested in this little boy.

I would not if I were you. Many of my friends have had them and the chew everything and bark at everything. They are also very hyper and need a lot of attention.
