People say so many things to me regarding my kids, I usually just laugh. Some people do not even hide their suprise. Just yesterday, at least 2 people said, "What is their nationality?" Well they're with me so they're African-American for one! People think they're adopted, which is fine -- if they were. What are some comments you get?

I don't mind -- just amazes me what people will say to total strangers. The kids are as proud to be Italian as they are to be African-American. I raised them to value both cultures, and they do, which is really neat. They will stop people before they get started with stereotypes of either side of their heritage. "Hold up -- we're Italian" or "I think you should know, we're Black!" It's actually kinda cool!

When my son was born, people asked me if his dad was Puerto Rican. When my daughter was born, she was so pale that I was asked if I was her nanny by several people. While at McD's one day the cashier actually stopped me while I was ordering to ask if she were mine. I was a little irritated at that. The craziest thing that ever happened was at the grocery store. Some woman, after seeing both of my children together, actually had the nerve to ask, "They got the same daddy?" Who the HECK asks a total stranger that mess? I just stood there blinking at her. I don't even remember responding to that one.

I am African-American and my b/f is Puerto Rican so my son is biracial. Some young people would say the stupidest stuff like "you just had to go out there and have a mixed baby" like it's a crime or like I had my son for show n tell, they would sometime say "everybody trying to get a mixed baby". In the mall stupid young girls would say " oh I gonna have a baby with a chico so my baby can come out so cute" sometime I just wanna say get a hold of ur self. My son is 5 years old and I am expecting a little girl in December, yeah it's from the same guy.

I have a friend (she's white, her husband is black) they went to Disney World with about 10 members of his family. Anyway, she has a son from a previous relationship that is very fair skinned, red hair, and freckles. She has a daughter with her husband now. They were in line at a restaurant, and her and her son were the only white people with the group, the hostess, was really rude, and actually asked her what they were doing with that group. Some people just don't think before they speak.

Well I am a the biracial child of a white mom and we used to get that A LOT. Especially since my sister is white with blonde hair & blue eyes, so people wouldn't even believe we were sisters. We used to have to show our IDs just to show we had the same name.
Now my hubby is white and we are having a baby so chances are my daughter is going to look caucasian and I know I am going to get the same bull$hit my mom did. I live in a very small minded community.

Yes, all the time. My daughter is half Native American and half white. She looks Mexican though. People have even asked, did you sneak her over the border? I was livid. There are so many ignorant people. Just ignore it.
