Depends on whoever is in charge of billing. I work in a dentist's office. If someone is making a payment each month, regardless of how small, I'm not going to put them in collections. I also will adjust off the finance charges that my software automatically adds to the the person's account. It's the people that ignore their bills or who flat out refuse to pay that I turn over to collections.

It depends on if you have a payment plan with them already set up. I was sending money every month to pay off a hospital and I guess they didnt think it was enough. I got a notice if I didnt pay it off in fulI would be turned over to collection agency. Some hospitals have a policy you can wave the bill if you are in very bad financial situation. Call the place you owe the money too and ask to work out an arragement.

I would contact the provider and let them know my intent to resolve the debt and keep the arrangements until paid-off Most companies report to the credit bureau every so often be it 30-days 90--days etc. The most important aspect of a company reporting is the "Ratings" is the customer a "Slow" "Moderate" "Excellent" Payer.

I think you have to negotiate that with the hospital. Usually though, I think it goes on your credit unless ALL of it is paid. And beware; a lot of hospitals will screw up the paperwork and still put it on your credit report, even if you've paid up in full (their records will show that you still owe money). I'm pointing this out because I know several individuals that this has happened to (one who got turned down for a loan because it showed that he hadn't paid for his son's hospital bill). So make sure you pull your credit and see exactly what is on there.

Not necessarily, but if you talk to the billing office and make arrangements to pay an amount, then make the agreed-upon payments regularly, they probably won't report you.

I think so because it only goes on your credit report when they send it to a collection agency, and so long as you are paying them what you can, they most likely won't do that.

Absolutely, send them 5 or 10 bucks a month, and they cannot do anything about it.
