A guy came zooming up behind me in his flashy sportscar.
I stepped on the brakes to warn him off, but I guess he wasn't paying attention because he ran into the back of me and messed up his pretty new car. Then when we pulled over he tried to attack me, but I was ready and I knocked him out cold and he went to the hospital, and his car got towed away. On top of it all he was charged with following too close and I'm suing him for damages.
I didn't get charged, because I was just defending myself.
I'm pretty happy with how it worked out.

I wouldn't say its a good way, but tapping the breaks as opposed to stepping on them might be good. Same effect if he sees them, but he doesn't hit you. You may have taught him a lesson, but you also greatly inconvenienced yourself, as well as others by creating a traffic situation. In addition, you would likely not be so lucky if he had a gun in his car and came after you with that. And what if he had swerved and hit someone else, of in hitting you involved another car? That driver could then sue YOU for your actions in this case and likely win some judgement against you.

I think the guy may have learned his lesson, or he is just too dumb to learn anything, but I am more hopeful that YOU learn a lesson. It may have felt good at the time, but you need to be more careful. Try calling the police on guys like this and let them handle it. I use *77 on the highways and the nonemergency police number elsewhere. It is a great feeling when you call it in and see a cop pulled the guy over further down the road. I beep and wave.

I've wanted to do that a few times!!! Only sometimes where I live, (by a college), they will pull out in front of us... I have wanted to run into the back of them, but not wanted to wreck MY car!!! hehehe... Glad someone is getting to people that are just plain rude!!!

All's well that end's well. If he learnt his lesson, then it was a good lesson. Hope your vehicle wasn't too badly damaged, I mean even if his insurance pays for it, it's still a hassle not having your own vehicle while it's in for repairs.

Yes, that was the right thing to do.
Tailgaters SUCK. They have no regard
for others' safety and I approve of teaching
them a lesson.

sounds like you got a little bit of road rage. If they are following you too close you should go slow when they cant pass and go fast when they can. That will really make them mad

It was effective for your particular situation. If he was on his cell phone, then I say he TOTALLY got what he deserves.
