Is the room hotter than usual?
Is the heat able to escape the evaporator plate at the back of the fridge? (you may have blocked it in by stuffing things on top of the fridge)
Is the door seal OK (shouldn't be able to slide even a sheet of paper in anywhere around the door seal)
Did you hear the compressor start when you adjusted the thermostat to maximum? (if not try tapping the thermostat button in case it's stuck)
You didn't put anything hot in the fridge did you? (!) - that raises the temperature significantly & it takes ages to bring it back down so it's not a safe thing to do for the sake of everything else in the fridge (+ it's a waste of electricity).

There are about 5 things that can go wrong with a freezer or a frig. I believe the fridge and freezer have the same lines of freon and compressor. The problem would probably then be the thermostat in the fridge. Like someone else said give the fridge part a few hours to see if it cools down. And do not just stick your hand in it, put a thermometer in it to make sure.

It may take the fridge a while to cool down especially in this hot weather. The settings take a while to adjust since there is only a few degrees to lower. But in a freezer the settings go down drastically which are a lot more noticeable

One odd thing can happen and it happened to me. If the switch that cuts the light out when you close the door, isn't working, the light is enough to keep your frig from cooling down and the freezer will still work. Wait for dark, turn out the lights, and slowly close the door to see if it goes out. If not, take the bulb out and see if the fridge gets cold.

Perhaps they use a seperate chilling system,if you change the thermostat on your fridge it doesnt usually alter the freezer anyway.
Perhaps the thermostat is faulty or maybe the gas unit has had it !

Sounds like the thermostat may need replacing. Fridges usually lose their efficiency as they get older but it should still be affected by changing the thermostat.

I read this twice. The way you layer longer story-related prose is admirable, and something I have much trouble with. You make it seem effortless, natural, but all of us who write know the opposite is true. I often measure the effectiveness of a piece by the number of TD's........Jealousy rears it's green head. Kudos to you, Mr Carney.

sounds to me like your condenser might be blocked.
thats the coil on the back of the fridge ,give it a clean with a vaccuum and make sure theres plenty of circulation of air round it.
if that fail it could have a gas leak.
