I don't see anything wrong with it. My 4 year old absolutely hates wearing socks. They annoy her she says. I've tried several kinds and even tried turning them inside out. Nothing works. My husband doesn't like wearing socks either so I figure that's where she gets it. As we know ALL kids are different and YOU are the parent. So do what you think is best. If you don't have a problem it and neither does he then no big deal.

If your child can walk, then yes, he should wear shoes outside of the house. Filp-flops or sandals are suffient enough during spring, summer and fall, while it is warm or hot. During the winter, while it is cold, he should wear snickers with socks. The socks will keep his feet warm. Children can get sick if not wearing shoes, like hookworks, hoof & mouth disease, & tetnus. He could also, get cut from slivers of glass you can't see. The hot pavement and ground can burn his feet and the cold ground and pavement can cause frostbite and illness.
Plus, most public places require shoes to be worn, their insurance requires them to post signs about wearing shoes. Broken glass from a jar or bottle could leave behind slivers that can embed into the sole of the foot.
Please think about your son's saftey when you leave the house.

He can catch a death of cold not wearing socks during the winter months. The head and feet is where body heat leaves the body. He needs to wear shoes and socks to protect his feet.

I live in NJ too. There's nothing wrong with wearing sneakers with no socks. I'm doing it right now. Its way to hot to be wearing socks. I love the feel of the shoes on my barefeet.

gota have socks in public places! he's being defiant. OK-no oscks...it could be worse. Be thankful. I would mandate wearing shoes and let him decide on the socks. He'll soon discover that he has the corn chip smelling feet of teh peer group he is in and his love interests may help his behavior change. LOL

It depends on how old he is. If he is not a toddler, he should at least wear flip flops or sandals into restaurants and businesses for sanitary purposes. In public, he should wear shoes or flip flops. Wearing socks in a personal choice unless it is too cold and he should have them on.

I dunno. How old is he? Does he walk around barefoot in the snow?
If he doesn't get sick or get frostbite, it's probably ok...but you should make him wear shoes...if for any other reason, so that the state doesn't come in and claim you are neglecting your son.
