Is it our duty as compassionate human beings to help our friends and relatives, or should we just sit back and hope their religious beliefs dont ruin their lives and the lives of those who love them?

I still go with the answers that have been in my heart since I was a
child.....and that was a long time ago.
1) I don't ever want to be in a place to judge others or what they do with their life. But when a
friend or relative asks me, then I intervene.(and they ask in many different ways...hurting, misunderstanding, etc. It works with all interventions...the person has to want to change or have
interest in what you believe to be true..sometimes they are so blind. We need to do, so they can learn...not to preach.
2) When it is a close friend....relative or child....I just relate
from my own experience. If someone close is hurting themselves, you
or others, tell them.....they need to know. Pick a private
place....and then let them think about it. Or intervene with others....but be careful....God does lead the way.
3) So many children and friends will get into religions or
don't see how much their education in their church is
hurting everyone around them. We do, I feel have a
sincere place to intervene, if we know that there is
a cult, a religion that is teaching the opposite of its
teaching...or they are hurting themselves or others.
4) I have studied and experienced as a Christian many
interventions. It comes down to this.....Follow what your
heart, your experience tells you.....then even as the
Indians I have met tell me...Let go and let God. Noone
wants to change anything....if they don't understand it, want it.
5) A very important part of intervention is example and
prayer. Thoughts do send messages.
6) Interventions are so very delicate. Even though some of
my interventions have worked....in the end....some people
go back to the same beliefs....church...etc. that is when my
acceptance and prayers worked so well. IT is HARD, Iknow.
I hope that this helps. I have watched so many friends....
turn from their heartfilled beliefs to different religions...politics is now playing an important part in ther heresey of religion. It is shameful, indeed. I am happy that you are being so careful and
sincere. I have won and lost...but I attribute my winnnings silently
and give the credit where do....to the person who changes.
A good book is, "Don't Beat the Dog"
Good Luck and if you ever want to talk.....choose the email
option. Good Luck

I'm not sure if this is a serious question or some wry humor because I could answer either way. I'll go with serious.

My father was in the hospital and needed a blood transfusion to stay alive. He refused to take one. I told him I disagreed and since he was going to die I would like to tell him my point of view. He agreed. When I was done he told me what I said made the most sense of anything he had ever heard about the subject. He changed his mind and accepted the blood. He lived another five years.

Only God can convert/transform a life. Your job is to create an attactive example that makes people attracted to you and begin the coonversation as to how they can get it to.

If you have to beat someone wiht a bible you need to stop and examine the witness you are presenting and spend some time cleanning up your own act.

There are mant examples of people comming to Jesus and not deciding to follow. Jesus loved them anyway and let them go on their way. You need to do the same.

well, when they reach bottom and they're realize that something is up, then you can.
i suggest being the person who pulls them out of their proverbial well and puts their feet on the ground.
otherwise you can't reach them.
